I would like to start grocery shopping online and would appreciate tips and advice on how to go about it.

  • I found shopping online to be such a good way to keep your spending under control. When I’m instore, I often add things that weren’t on my list. However, online, I simply stick to the list.

  • Know exactly what you want – it makes it so much faster.

  • look for coupons on sites like oz bargins

  • look for specials like free shipping

  • I like woolworths click and collect from the store. I often get extra goodies thrown in, like order chicken breasts and get the free range stuff instead

  • I find that I look to choose my own fruit and vegies in store as you can get varying quality. Some times it great other times it’s not. I also try and stick with specials as things not on sale are dearer that what you can get in the shops. But budget is important to me while convenience may be more important for others and are happy to pay a little extra.

  • I think its great. It takes a bit of getting used to though.

  • Online grocery shopping is good for some goods not for fresh products. Viewing grocery shopping as a family trip and make it enjoyable as long as budgeting the spending.

  • I don’t often grocery shop online because the delivery price usually makes the goods too expensive unless I am doing a really big shop.
Sometimes some of the online groceries have excellent specials and also occasionally offer free delivery which makes it more worthwhile.

  • i just found out that coles has first delivery free for an order over $100 and every wednesday is free delivery anyway. woolies has varying offers but i think it now is first 3 orders free delivery. They always change it up though

  • Ok. I shop on https://m.groceryrun.com.au/ I save loads. They sell everything! Form shampoo, cereal..everything! And always cheaper than the shop! I can’t stop buying our food from here. We save loads! They always deliver so fast! Like 3-4 days. Have a look. You will be surprised.

  • I’ve noticed Kogan now has a grocery line and some items are pretty cheap. They have a delivery fee though, so you would have to factor that in.

  • Have done this a few times when needed and have found it to be handy with no extras been brought and convinces of it all.

  • I just received an email from Woolworths online stating unlimited deliveries for a month for only $1. Cant get much better than that.

  • Im pretty sure woolworths do your first shop delivery free. Or you could try something like grocery run. They have really great prices although you might not be able to get everything you need there. Also Kogan has just opened Kogan pantry. The prices are amazing but again maybe not everything you need in the one spot.

  • We use Aussie Farmers Direct and are really happy. They predominantly do perishables (fruit, veg, meat, dairy and bakery items), sourced from local suppliers. Well worth checking if they deliver to your area. On the very rare occasion there has been a problem customer service has been really helpful and friendly. Have been with them for over a year and couldn’t be happier, both with the quality of the produce and with the level of customer service (our milko Oliver is awesome).

  • Grocery shopping from the major supermarkets online can be convenient but costly. Once you have set up your list of favourite items, which can be time consuming, the list can be saved for future shops. Many items are more expensive online compared to the identical item in store by up to one dollar. However, you may be less likely to buy impulse items. Make the most of free delivery offers. Online shopping is great for buying heavy bulky items.

  • First thing to do is join Groceryrun.com.au It has great bargains and the postage is reasonable! Sometimes it is 1/2 price or free! We save quite a lot by ordering with them. Hope this gets you started. Good luck.

  • It takes a long time to start with but once you have your ‘favourites’ set up it makes it so much easier. Good luck!
