Hello!

Hi there mumma’s. For Christmas I am planning on re-doing a big old tv cabinet into a “home corner” for my kids. I am planning the middle section for the kitchen, with a fridge underneath, and a stove top. A laundry to the left, and a hanging space for costumes ect… on the right. Now, I need some inspiration as such. Just want to know what ways I could do a stove on the top that is simple enough, and if anyone has done one and put some lighting in it? Any help and inspiration would be great!!
Thanks =)

  • I’ve never heard of this before! And I can’t seem to picture it in my head so will have to Google it to see what it looks like.

  • How did you go? I saw this done once on Better Homes and Gardens.

  • Did you get this done? Would love to see pictures.

  • just seeing this post now – how did it go?

  • Pinterest is fabulous but you could also google up refurbishing furniture and see what images you find.

  • Will check out their website for sure =) Thanks for the tip!!
    Thankfully the cupboard is really sturdy, would take A LOT for it to tip over, like someone literally pushing it from the back. Its very heavy…

    I will be taking pics through the process of getting it done =) First thing would be sanding, and cutting out what needs to be cut out, and getting little bits needed, like some more wood for the doors, the paint, then decorate with the fixtures and appliances ect…. =)
    Its going to cost about $150 in paint for the paints I want (4 colours + gloss), need handles (which I already bought lol, about $20. The wood for the doors will probably be around $40. I bought a kettle and toaster for about $20. A washing machine and dryer in a kids play toys will be about $15 – $20. Then need sandpaper, and probably a sander which I can get one for about $40, sandpaper probably around $10. Then, if all is going well, I might even look at getting some sort of lights for the cupboard =) Oh and curtains, but I already have the fabric for that =) Then just need fixtures for the “stove top” and for the hanging for the costumes, as well as coat hangers…
    So, its semi-expensive, but will be awesome once done, and very bright and colourful!
    Will also have to look at getting some shelves from old fridges, and some play foods =)

  • Wow! Sounds impressive – would love to see a pic of the final product. Good on you for being so creative! :)

  • I saw something similar on Better Homes and Gardens a while back – their website might have something? Also, make sure the whole thing is secured to wall so as not to fall and hurt the kids – kids like to climb – toys like this are usually quite light weight – just something to bear in mind…
