Hello!

Okay so my first born is starting school this year. I don’t know if it sounds silly but I have so much anxiety over it – she’s always been way ahead of her years so I’m not worried about her struggling with the school work. I just hope she makes a few good friends – she has always found it easy to make friends too (honestly she’s the sweetest little girl I’ve been very blessed) but none of her kinder friends will be going to this school. Also at an orientation session she asked one girl if she could sit next to her and the girl was quite cold towards her and said “No you will have to find somewhere else to sit I don’t want to be your friend.” It didn’t upset her but she told me she didn’t know why the little girl was so mean? I think because I know how bad bullying is these days it just makes me cringe! Am I the only one?

  • I think you’re just being a mum. It’s normal that we worry how our kids will cope at school, in life in general actually. I hope your little girl is thriving and has made lots of great friends and not too many of these negative experiences

  • I remember my daughter’s first day in Kinder. She was fine. I was a mess. You’ll be okay. Just ask your daughter about school each day so you can find out quickly if there are any problems. All the best.

  • That’s not silly at all. I remember my kids first day at school, it is a cause for much concern. At least it’ll be easier for your child than you, if that helps
