Hello!

How long after having tooth removed did your taste buds return? I can only drink water. Everything else currently tastes like it is off.

  • an infected tooth may cause a bad taste in your mouth or bad breath because of the bacteria that causes the infection..
Once it’s treated and in your case removed, it should return within a couple of days

  • Mine lasted a day or two, but it was bland soft foods.

  • If the sensation of no taste lasts maybe check with the dentist?

  • This is not strange, causes of taste disorders and a loss of taste include: upper respiratory infections, such as the common cold, middle ear infections, poor oral hygiene and dental problems, such as gingivitis.
Some simple tips; drink plenty of water, try and avoid using mouthwashes which contain chlorohexdine and chew your food more – Chewing increases salivation, which in turn will increase the amount of chemicals released from the food, so taste sensation will improve.

  • yes, but after my tooth was treated, my taste returned back to normal. Hopefully yours will too.

  • I’ve had one extraction and I must admit that I had no loss of taste …

  • Mine took a few weeks, and I ended up adding lots of salt to enhance flavour in the end. Hope yours gets better soon

  • You can return your taste buds to normal by having celery juice each morning on a empty stomach and wishing each mouthful around, I would say there is a bit of an acid build up in your mouth. You also need to restore bacteria and wishing with coconut oil also can help. Eat lots of fresh salads too.

  • I had a metallic taste for a couple of days. The medication I have to take tends to make my taste weird when I go to the Dentist for routine checkup.

  • I’ve had a couple of teeth extracted but never experienced a loss of tastebuds. The numbness and then after pain was annoying enough
