Hello!

I know that acne is common during pregnancy but the last time break outs I’ve had have resulted in a red mark being left behind where the pimple was. I didn’t pick at them or pop them so I’m not sure if this is just normal for pregnancy. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a way to get if the red mark or at least reduce it?

  • I had something similar. It was a pimple that appeared just after I gave birth and just wouldn’t heal. After about two months I went to see my GP about it and he excised it and had it tested. The results came back inconclusive, and I was told it was some sort of sun damage. I’m glad I had it removed.

  • I believe this will fade over time – you might want to see a dermatologist for advice if it hasn’t faded after six months or so.

  • Some qualified pharmacists do extra studies to keep up with safety issues with products, including pregnancy and what Mum can use herself when baby is a newborn and being breastfed, including on your skin.

  • I would talk to your local doctor or a nurse to see if you need medicated cream for it. otherwise try to keep your face clean moisturised – not a lot else you can do.

  • Bio oil is fantastic for all sorts of scars, I’m sure this would help fade the spots. Also with time I’m pretty sure they will fade. All sorts of weird things happen with our bodies during pregnancy, birth and breast feeding……a lot with no explanation

  • didn’t have pregnancy acne but i understand about the marks. they will fade back to normal. i used witch hazel (buy in supermarket) and this stopped all my pimples. clearasil etc never worked. make sure that you talk to your doc about what is safe to use in pregnancy

  • I have pimples towards the end of this pregnancy and so far the red marks are still there, I am hoping it will go away soon, good luck with yours
