Hello!

I have been looking at appliance bar ideas in all the house & home magazines. I constantly use my stand mixer, bread maker, fryer, rice cooker, bullet blender and coffee grinder. These tend to stay outside on my bench top taking up valuable working space. Any suggestions or ideas on how to set up a low cost appliance bar please? Thanks MoM.

  • Just grab a laundry broom hanger should work ok

  • You can sell most of the appliances and buy a Thermomix that you can leave on the bench and will do the work of most of the appliances you mentioned. It’s a fantastic machine! You can now pick up a second hand one as a lot of people have bought the new model. The old model is just as good as the new one!

  • I have mine in my foldout cupboards.

  • oopps..Wishing you luck and will follow what other mums suggest.

    :-)

  • I have an appliance cupboard with a roll up door (it hides all my appliances when not in use, with the door down) or simply lift up the door and cook to your hearts content) but my kitchen is fairly new and did cost quite a bit.
My only suggestion is a butchers trolley, but that does not have a power point, but you can move it to one. Aldi , Ikea are places to purchase these along with many other places.

  • Glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t heard of this before. Will do some searching as sounds like a good idea – all my appliances are up in the cupboard (a walk in scullery but I don’t leave them out)

  • My parents had a pantry back in the 1970’s that had the power available for mostly using toasters & the likes but not suitable for steamy appliances. Maybe they can design something for you with extractor fans.

  • i have’nt heard of this either so i will have to look it up a bit more and see if there is a sort of temporary version of this. renting– oh the joys! i want to be much more organised in the kitchen

  • Following I would love to find out what others do. I have put most of mine away in cupboards now, but I get sick of constantly lifting in and out some days.

  • Great question, I have never heard of an appliance bar – I think I need one too!

  • Following this as I would love to see what others do

  • I’ve never heard of the term appliance bar either!
But in the rental I am currently living in – there is a large “hole” probably intended for an under bench microwave with a trim kit. In the hole is 2 power points. I have a small powerboard plugged in with a nutribullet, a small food processer and my stick mixer. When I need to use one of the appliances I just pull it out of the open hole and onto the bench, it’s ready to go because it’s already plugged in. The space is the perfect size and height for what I need but could fit a bread maker or fryer as well (then you just pull it out off the shelf and onto the bench to use it.)

  • Sounds great mom109463! Clever carpenter! :)

  • I have to admit, most of my applicanes used to live in a cupboard until I purchased a thermomix and at that point, most applicances were given away. Thes we kept live in a corner on our kitchen bench with a shelf above for the microwave

  • I have a corner that I call my appliance cupboard, above it is my microwave, above that a useless cupboard that I store things I never use in, but the appliance cupboard has my mixer, blender, toaster, kettle, bread maker, popcorn maker and milkshake maker, 2 double powerpoints, and a double door so I can shut it and not look at it, it is the same height at the benches and is actually granite , best invention ever, our carpenter who built the kitchen suggested it, was not sure to start with but it is great.

  • Thanks for asking this good question; I would love to know too as I never ever have enough bench space.

  • I would love to have a walk in scullery or something similar to put everything in – heaven!

  • Yaeh I’d go with the pantry option for the ones that dont create a lot of steam. You should google them though and no doubt there’ll be loads of ideas out there!

  • I have never heard of this term – now I am going to have to go search!!

  • yes I would say if your pantry is big enough get a power point in there,
