From memory there were a few tears and then it was over. Nothing to worry about. I always took my kids to buy a little treat after they had their jabs.

I was told by my GP that the 18 month vaccinations had been stopped. I’m not sure if they’ve been reintroduced.

Honestly don’t remember and it was only a few months ago – guess it wasnt worth remembering! (Ie not traumatic)

Same as the previous ones I found. Cried initially but not too long.

Our four kids had no dramas at 18 months. In fact, my eldest son looked at the needle going in, then looked at the doctor and smiled! My younger son watched the injection, then looked at the doctor and sobbed until the band aid appeared). Even the four year old needles weren’t too bad. We explained to the kids that these were their “school” needles and they had to have their doctor check up before they were allowed to start at big school (worked for 3 kids so far). I think the teenage needles were worse – have you heard a teenager complain about a sore arm before!!!?

Interesting to read, my child is booked in soon… 3 weeks late because she had a cold at her 18 month-day, then there were no appointments! I\’m worried she might develop virus symptoms afterwards, don\’t want her to fall sick AGAIN

My daughter took it in her stride. Of course she cried for a minute, but it was over really quick.

It’s always worse for us mums – my four were fine with all their jabs and because we loved in the country and they played outdoors a lot, they routine tetanus boosters until they were minimum 15, one 20.
It is a great relief for what will happen to them.

They weren’t an issue for my son

I think personally the worst vax were the 4 year old one. That was horrid to watch.

My daughter had hers a week ago and not a peep out of her. She had cried a little at her previous ones. Try and stay calm and relaxed yourself, that really helps.

For the first one they don’t know but when the doctor preps the other one they cry but once it’s over my son was fine

My oldest cried more and kept giving the nurse dirty looks! When I took my youngest a few months ago, I was all prepared for lots of tears. I took snacks and an iPhone to distract her with games, but she didn’t even flinch. She watched the needle go in and there were no tears. I was very surprised!

No, they won’t realise they’re there for something that will hurt. It’s the same as previous immunisations, they’re fine, oblivious until the jab…..then they cry

Both my boys were fine with their 18mth imms, they were oblivious to what was happening until they happened, we got the usual cry because it stings. My 4yr recently had his & it was the 1st time he knew what was going on, we explained it to him, he was nervous but didn’t cry 🙂

I was expecting them to be but all 3 of mine had them with no bother. My 4 year old recently had his and I got his Dad to take him as I wasn’t looking forward to it, and he was fine too (phew) I honestly think it’s worse for us watching!
