We love them, i won’t get other cacao nibs in my home.
Raw cacao nibs are a bit bitter and you might find they taste better in your cooking or baking product. My kids love them for example in the banana pancakes, brownies, sprinkled over the muesli with greek yoghurt, choc chip cookies, sprinkled over homemade ice cream, etc.
In our society many people got used to eat all kind of sweetened products and lost a bit the taste for real foods.

As mentioned below, they are bitter. I find I only use a little bit of them for crunch in some recipes. I certainly don’t like the taste of them on their own.

cherz, check where they were manufactured. I don’t know about other countries but I was told by somebody who worked in USA for 12 months that their normal chocolate tastes like cooking chocolate. What you have might be OK for diabetics or those who have to have lactose free, and gluten free. Yes, some chocolates, chocolate bars definitely have wheat in them. Another ingredient it may have is orange. There is a big chocolate factory in the eastern states that puts orange in some of its chocolate but I know at one stage they reckoned they didn’t have to list it as it was only such a small amount. Enough to make a girl very sick though. It was only confirmed when the Mum rang the company and asked a few questions.

Think of them more as an additive to other ingredients rather than to eat on their own.

They taste like dirt haha not that i know what dirt tastes like… :/
I bought some but didn’t want to waste them so just add them to slices, muffins etc

They are certainly an acquired taste. I personally would not eat them on their own; I use them as an alternative to choc chips.

You can’t think of them as chocolate bits – there is no sugar in them so they are an acquired taste and on the bitter side. If you google up some recipes though, paired with other ingredients they can be really delicious and give a good crunch to some recipes.

I understand that they are quite bitter and abit yucky.

Sometimes if I am in a “healthy ” type mood, I may buy organic carobs which looks like chocolate buttons . Sometimes it is slightly bitter , but contains no sugar and is quite bland to taste. I like it because it my idea of the ” healthy ” chocolate . The ones you are describing sounds like something else , so I would take it back and ask them if they are meant to taste how you described to make sure they were fresh when you purchased them . I like browsong at ” Healthy Life ” stores and find their customer service is always friendly so I am sure they can help you .

Well, cocoa nibs are just chocolate that hasn’t been ground and mixed with sugar yet. It would be like eating 100% dark chocolate. It’s quite a strong flavour thus and bitter. I never bought it because I find it very expensive, but I’ve always been intrigued. Sarah Wilson (the author of “I quit sugar”) uses it in some of her recipes. hmm, maybe google this. maybe there was a bad batch? are you supposed to soak them etc? i have never heard of these
