  • That’s a really helpful discussion, thanks for sharing! I like the tip about putting decals or hanging shiny streamers on the window since the bird might be seeing its own reflection and thinking it’s another bird. One reader mentioned using wind chimes too, which not only keeps birds away but adds a nice sound to the space. Have you tried any of these yet?

  • Its possible that it sees its reflection in the window so thinks its another bird. Ive had this with one that kept flying at my cars side mirror and the jolly thing would keep pooping down the side of my car which was mega annoying. I covered the side mirrors with socks.

  • I was reading some of the comments below and all of these are great tips. I don’t have this problem so unfortunately I don’t have a suggestion for you but I would definitely try some of the tips given below as they seem simple and easy to apply. Good luck, hope you find something that works.

  • Along with the pretty leadlight stickers we use; as commented below. We also use wind chimes near some very large windows. The sound and the movement seems to work with keeping the birds away from the window. The bonus is the chimes are beautiful to look at and the sound of them is relaxing too.

  • The other day I was wondering why I kept seeing homes with silver streamers hanging in front of windows and off balconies. I then realized it’s to keep birds away! Maybe trying something like that will work. We use to have a window birds loved flying back and forth at, my cat was ready and waiting thinking it would get in the house (she wishes)

  • Your window may be too clean – they don’t realise it’s a window! If you’re up for it, a scattering of small decals may help – you can get removable ones. so you can use them for just a few weeks if it helps. Or hang something like an old CD outside the window – I’m told this can scare birds.

  • Ugh! Yes! The peewees are famous for flying into windows! We get it every year aswell! Flying into our car windows aswell!
We purchased plastic toy snakes and laid them on the window sills and it helped. I tried putting one on the car and it was helping but I kept forgetting about it and would drive around with the toy snake on the roof lol

  • We are lucky enough to have lots of beautiful birds visit our backyard to use the birdbaths and to forage for food. We had some that were flying at the windows and to ensure they did not get injured we purchased some pretty leadlight stickers and stuck them to the windows. The windows look pretty and it stops the birds from flying at the windows.
