There are people who never produce milk, they are simply unable to. Hopefully this isn’t the case as it’s something you would love to do, so perhaps speak to a professional, do a bit of research if you like. Maybe 2nd time is the charm and you’ll have milk like there’s no tomorrow. Best of luck.

agree with some other comments – get a lactation consultant in before the birth. They are awsome

I booked in to see the lactation Consultant before birth for my second one for similar reasons. I was recommended to get raspberry leaf tea in vitamin form to help bring it in plus she came up to the hospital to help out after birth. Good luck 🙂

you could try pumping alot at the beginning, I’ve never had a problem getting it to come in, I do however pump at the same time for a few days and notice an increase each day until It stays at a constant amount.

I can only suggest that you drink lots of fluids and use a pump to express after each feed. Put the expressed milk in a glass bottle and use it t top up. Your milk will increase because of expressing. I also suggest using pure lanolin after each feed to keep them supple and stop them from cracking. It is safe to use. There are also some really good sites online that give great tips.

It was the hardest thing I ever tried to do I tried with all 3 of my sons and with the 3rd I was so determined I was breastfeeding him I pumped and pumped for 2 weeks full on kept trying kept topping him up with formula and at around 5 wks I was so exhausted I just gave in and gave him a bottle he loved it and was a different bubba some people just cant do it no matter how hard you try. good luck

I would be contacting someone from the Australian Breastfeeding Association, they can guide you through everything you need to know! which is not really much, arm yourself with some ‘udder cream’ (its really called that) understand that it may hurt, and that the first three weeks are HARD but so good beneficial at the end of the day, I guess the only thing you really can do is work hard on mastering a great latch and not stressing!

You can now get tablets that help speak to your gp

My baby was in ICU for a week, i couldn’t even hold her let alone breastfeed, and i really really wanted to!! i pumped every 3 hours- i woke myself up at night to do it. by the time i was allowed to breastfeed her i had an abundance of milk and i managed to breastfeed for 17 months after that!!.

drink plenty of fluids and express between feeds, the more you express the more your milk will come in

I think you should speak to a lactation expert. Look for one in your area or online you could visit some of the websites that have helplines.

I think your doctor can give you something to help

I had a lot of trouble feeding to start with and I ending up feeding till my daughter was 16 maths old.
I did comp feeding which is when you to formula and breast milk, also I used a breast pump I between feeds to stimulate milk flow, also eating a lot of dairy and malted milk powder helped. Good luck hope you can do it.

I was the only person in my family to have problems breast feeding as well, so don’t feel silly. I didn’t use it at the time but since then I have heard women taking fenugreek tablets on the advice of their maternal child and health nurses. Also there are some prescriptions Drs can prescribe to help with milk production. I would go see my GP I’m advance and discuss these medications and explain the problem you had last time.

There are tablets you can get to help. Speak with your GP and also lots of fluid.
