Hello!

She just turned 3 and won’t tell me when she needs the toilet. Very frustrating.

  • I suppose you just need to keep asking her and get her to sit on the toilet even if she doesn’t need to go. Is she wearing undies? Perhaps she needs to wet herself a few times to realise she needs to go to the toilet.

  • no worries! glad that i was helpful. i know it can feel stressful to “conform” to the guidelines but don’t worry about it. All kids are different and any pressure that we put on them about potty training, just reinforces their anxiety about the whole situation. I think that the upside to it is that now she will be able to communicate with you clearly about her “business” so that you don’t have to stand around waiting and guessing JUST in case she has to poo! Good luck!

  • My eldest was nearly 3.5 when she was toilet trained. Like you i was frustrated she wouldn’t go earlier but may be more so because I was getting judged from others because she wasn’t
When she was ready it took her a day or two and was so easy. hardly any accidents and less stressful. :-)

  • Thanx a lot for your advice, I really appreciate it..mom92145, thanx again x

  • Following. My miss 3 won’t use the look either. :(

  • give her time, she will come around. some kids just take longer to get there. my friend’s daughter is the same. once every week they would pull the potty out when they think that she has to go and she rejects it but this week she wanted to sit down and give it a go. she is three and a half years old now and almost too big for this potty but i am proud of her as well for finally trying it. They really praise her for giving it a go and she still has times where she doesn’t want to use it but her parents don’t carry on about it. I also have another friend whose seven year old still wears pull ups for bed and pees the bed at night without them on. Just keep giving her gentle encouragement and telling her what to expect. say you pee or poo in the potty and then we tip it in the toilet and flush and say bye bye poo. do a few test runs with her like this and see if that helps
