  • I don’t see why you couldn’t use alternative flours. It will just have a different consistency to regular shortbread.

  • No I haven’t but it would be easy enough to find out if it works just by doing a Google search.

  • No, I haven’t. Pretty sure a recipe would be easily found though, on here or on good old Google. There’s so many gluten free options available, I reckon you’ll find one

  • Yes, You can use it. Just do not mix a lot that dough, what is done with usual dough.

  • yes, you can – just put “coconut flour shortbread” in a search and you will come up with lots of recipes

  • You can buy gluten free SR or Plain Flour at Coles too. In SA some Foodland Stores also have a big range of Gluten Free too

  • Yes we only use rice flour and it is great

  • You can actually buy gluten free plain flour at woolies and yes I’ve used it before and it basically works the same but i do sometimes find that the texture is slightly different.

  • I have made with a combination of gluten free Plain Flour, Rice Flour and Gluten Free Corn Flour. You need to make sure that your corn flour is actually gluten free sometimes it is wheaten corn flour.
I have heard a few people say not to use coconut flour as the main flour in biscuits but I have not used coconut flour myself to know.

  • I havent done personally but a group that im apart of on facebook they use gluten free flour to make shortbread and it comes out just fine.
Not sure on the coconut flour tho.

  • Rice flour tastes really good in shortbread and is gluten free but I guess gluten free flour would work too.

  • Don’t substitute coconut flour as when you use it you need to add more liquid than to regular flour. I’m sure you could google a coconut flour shortbread recipe though.

  • I’ve used rice flour & it is gluten free.
