Hello!

My 19 month old has slept through about 10 times since she was born.We have recently tried a bit of cry it out for 5 – 10minutes at a time but she doesn’t have any comforter (dummy etc) so she wont settle without us picking her up. She also sometimes vomit’s at bedtime which makes me nervous leaving her to cry it out. Can anyone recommend a good book to try?

  • just about to read tizzie’s book. ive also got pinky’s, plus booked into 2 free ngala talks (perth!) also try your CHN. babe is 6 months old and slowly getting easier. still bf to sleep though. good luck

  • Poor little love. Please read some gentler books like Pinky McKay, Dr Sears, Elizabeth Pantley. It’s not good to let your baby cry it out. I am not criticising anyone who has, or anyone who has used Tizzie but her methods are not very nice and can cause long term issues.

  • i think the vomiting is from the over-reaction to going to bed. my mate let me babysit her daughter and while she was young, she would cry, get upset and vomit! and i dealt with that firsthand. my friend said that she would do it all the time. bed=vomit, shower= vomit. she outgrew that stage when she could use her words more.

  • All I can say is hang in there, different things work for different kids and sleep deprivation is horrible! My little guy didn’t sleep through consistently till 15 months. Tizzie Hall has a book called save our sleep. I did not follow it completely but took the bits that worked with our daily life. The best thing I learned was not to wait till he was overtired to put him down, stick to a bedtime/nap time schedule and it is amazing how they learn the drill. People are often surprised when I say ok, time for bed and put him down, literally kiss, hug out him in bed and don’t hear from him. They say he didn’t seem tired, but if I leave it too late it is a disaster! (He doesn’t have a dummy either but he does have a tangy blanked he cuddles. ) tizzie has some good advice that makes sense, I have friends that followed it from birth and had successful sleepers.
Good luck and hugs to you. Hope you get some sleep soon!
