I think you need to persevere if it’s something you want. I didn’t have any trouble with my kids staying in their beds luckily but my sister did and she said she would pick them up, not talk to them and carefully carry them back to their own bed. She said it took quite a few nights but they stuck with it and it worked.
My son was a bit like that. What we did is placing a small mattress for him on the floor of our bedroom, initially beside our bed and then gradually we created more distance till he was happy to sleep in his own bedroom. With my youngest (6yr old with Down Syndrome) I lay a while in bed with her till she calms down to go to sleep. Funny enough at the moment my 15yr old daughter goes through a stage she’s afraid to sleep in her room (she’s the only one who has her bedroom downstairs and is afraid for noises and burglars). She sleeps currently on a mattress on the floor in our bedroom. All I want to say is kids go through stages. Personally I don’t believe in forcing but taking their fears seriously.
This was a mistake I made with my first born, to start with it was easier for him to sleep with us, it let me have a few extra zzzzzzzs. But oh man it was a challenging time getting him into his own bed. Persevere, you’ll get there
Fun times. The best advice I can give is patience and perseverance. For two of my children I would actually lay with them for some time in their bed until they got settled in, but otherwise it is just a matter of continually taking them back to their bed…. Another one of ours we ended up putting a mattress on the floor at the end of our bed – it was one step out of our bed and towards their own… each child is different as we all know…
But lots of patience and perseverance
good luck
