Hello!

Can we please create a forum for hacks you have done or plan to do for celebration photos?

Mine is cake smash cake for under $15 that doesn’t take away from your gorgeous bub! I will add a picture to the comments.
Ingredients:
– 2 supermarket mud cakes
– Tub of whipping cream
Instructions:
– Whip the cream until stiff
– Put the first cake on a Lazy Susan, put whipped cream on top and stack the other one on top
– Coat the cakes using a cake scrapper, spinning the Lazy Susan and smoothing with the cake scrapper
– Add a few drops of food dye to the whipped cream bowl and swirl once or twice
– Continue to add cream and smooth for a graduated effect
– Serve to toddler for gleeful messy goodness!

  • I’m sure this is an idea that some will appreciate, but I must admit I’m not a fan of cake smashes. I think it promotes poor manners, plus of course it makes a mess. The manners thing is the big thing for me, though, so I’m pleased none of my kids have ever asked for a smash cake.

  • Great idea but there has been restrictions added to the forum and you can’t add photos. You now can’t even reply to other mums comments which is a shame as this was a great way to connect with other mums. I love your idea though. Maybe try reaching out to the mom’s team and see if it is something they would consider for the future.

  • Sadly now a days we cannot add a photo to our comments anymore, we can only add a picture by the competitions. I’ve never done a cake smash party and my kids are no toddlers anymore…where has the time gone ?! I can imagine a toddler will have fun smashing a cake, they even may smash it every time they see a cake ;D

  • Chiwen the smash cake is definitely one i will be trying! Thank you!

  • I am sorry, I thoight I would be able to add a photo to a comment but haven’t had any luck.

  • Great idea and it would be good to be able to add photos.

  • Love the idea of this thread. And this cake ideas is wonderful. Cheap and minimal effort! I did the classic chocolate dome for a bit of extra fun.
Need two bowls, one for choc another to place dipped balloon. Choc chips, 100’s and 1000’s.
Temper chocolate, either in the microwave or stovetop. Allow to cook slightly and place in a large bowl
Blow up a balloon to your desired size.
Dip balloon in chocolate then place in a bowl, tied side down. While wet sprinkle 100’s and 1000’s. Chill on the freezer. Pop balloon to carefully remove, then crown your smash cake!
