Hello!

I have never taken my kids on a holiday before & we want to get away somewhere nice. I can’t afford too much but am looking for ideas of where to travel on a tight budget?

  • Anywhere in Australia would be prime. I like to get off the beaten track and go exploring little known Aussie treasures, often a cheaper option too

  • Camping is cheap. Most camp grounds cost around $30 a night for an unpowered site.

  • Canberra is really great with kids and you can stay in a cabin at a caravan park very cheap. With petrol and food a few nights can easily come in under $1000

  • Cruise ships are not expensive when you take into account travel accommodation food and activities. Some cabins are cheaper than others, and sometimes their are last minute cruise deals which are unbeatable.

  • Camping is budget friendly and fun too!

  • In Australia camping
Overseas Fiji in off season. Cheap resorts do all inclusive packages – look at the naviti

  • You can travel around Australia by camping which is a cheap alternative. If you are looking for overseas holidays try Asian destinations or Fiji Islands.

  • Depends where you are and where you want to go/how far. Can’t beat a good old camping trip though!

  • Anywhere near a beach. That’s free

  • Did you see this article I wrote for Mouths of Mums – https://mouthsofmums.com.au/10-tips-to-plan-a-cheap-holiday/ Might give you some tips.

  • A cruise!!! They are so cheap! There are so many activities on board, you get treat like royalty by all of the staff and the kids would have a ball in the kids club while you have some adult time. The food supply is endless and there are so many destinations to cruise to. Mid-year sales are the best time to buy, because they have extras, such as onboard credit, and cheaper per person. My family love to cruise and have never looked back. Have done Vanuatu and Alaska and are doing NZ this year :)

  • Agree its very hard not knowing where you are from but if your on a budget id avoid qld as it is certainly not cheap, VIC has some very beautiful spots my favorite is either echuca or Ballarat. For SA id recommend anywhere in the city and a visit to the zoo :) WA ive never been there before but apparently the city part is amazing (my sister went). As for anywhere else I wouldn’t have a clue

  • It’s hard to give suggestions without knowing where you live at the moment. If you were in Adelaide, you could go somewhere like Victor Harbour, which is about 1 hour south of Adelaide on the coast. Lots to see and do around there, that doesn’t have to cost you anything, and some good caravan parks to stay in.
