  • Oh, to be young and silly again. I remember when you’d see your crush change their msn headline to include someone else’s name and feel totally devo. How fleeting love is when you’re in highschool.

  • Not all teenagers believe so, mine don’t. But don’t under estimate the impact of ‘group-thinking’

  • Because teenagers are immature and easily lead by others. Of course it’s ridiculous to us that a heart on social media is not cheating

  • I think they have been brainwashed with this technology too.

  • Social media has poisoned our minds. Seriously

  • I love all the comments and I do believe it really needs a conversation with the wayh teenagers think relationships/ and social media works.

  • You know that’s what I thought. Surely they are mature enough to know the difference. No! I spoke to a lot of teenagers and it seems mostly the girls who believe its cheating to heart a shared post or another boys pic if you are in a relationship! They were horrified that I didn’t know that. Sorry I must be old. In my day we spoke face to face and cheating was going out /flirting with someone else if you were boyfriend and girlfriend.

  • Glad to hear about the eggplant emoji. Lol

  • I’ve never heard of that.

  • Teenagers of now are very dramatic and very serious, compared with when I was a teen in the 80’s. It’s mostly due to social media and the lack or almost lack of normal activities that teens used to do and they have their faces constantly buried in a device. My daughter was disgusted with me because I described my relationship status ( verbally) as single. She argued that I am not single, that I’m in a relationship and it got really heated. I explained that on paper on an official document or form that I would tick the defacto box, but I am still single. If anyone asks me if I’m married I say no and she got quite angry over that as well because apparently I should say that I’m in a relationship!!!!. A lot of teens call themselves bisexual too and they are still virgins as well. I told my daughter you can’t really call yourself bisexual until you have had sex with both sexes. I can see how they would see a heart emoji as cheating. Just for the record, an eggplant emoji means you want to have sex, lol.

  • Teenagers’ whole lives revolve around social media. It is hard for them to understand that they are not real social interactions.

  • Definitely not cheating. Not sure how teenagers minds work these days. So glad we didn’t have social media when I was growing up. Most likely their hormones make them irrational lol

  • I’m also guilty of cheating then ??? I use heart emoji’s all the time. <3

  • Sh** if that’s cheating, I’ve cheating heaps of times lol.
It’s just teenagers being hormonal and jealous, it’s pretty normal I think.

  • Teenagers have their own rules I’m sure not all of them think that but it’s a time of insecurity so these things happen.

  • It’s not cheating

  • Hormonal jealousy!

  • Social media and navigating it needs a good conversation.

  • I am surprised by this perception of an emoji.

  • No, it can’t be. It would sound very funny otherwise.
