Hello!

I would love it if you could share with me some arts and craft ideas for my 4 year old son that I could make with him. I have some ideas already from the MoM site but would welcome some more. I would like to create a little box of goodies to send to his Nanny and Gramps. Thank you.

  • Make xmas cards using old Christmas cards. Decorate your own wrapping paper: use brown/white paper and kids stamp pictures on it. Could ever do old school potato stampers.

  • Hand painted photo frames are always lovely. Plain photos frames are usually quite cheap to purchase at value shops. Then paint or glue on pictures. Pop a favourite photo in the frame.

  • I love the idea of little foot and hand print keep sakes, it need not be flash, I still love seeing my 11 year old sons little foot prints at his grandmas house!

  • Thank you for all these ideas really appreciate it – so excited about christmas activities with my family

  • Thank you everyone for these great ideas! I am hoping to do 1 christmas activity a day starting from 01st Dec! For some reason it is not allowing me to respond to individual comments tonight.

  • I don’t know if you like the idea, but with my daughter we recycled old Christmas cards to make some laminated place mats!

  • Some homemade Christmas tree decorations like painted pine cones or clay ornaments. Collage of photos. Paddle pop stick jewelry box or fruit bowl are pretty simple too

  • My son once brought home a lovely picture of a reindeer from preschool made by doing a print of his foot with the heel towards the bottom of the page and a handprint each side of his toes at the top of the page. A great Christmas idea that could be done at home in red. And photocopied to make a card or calendar

  • Use cookie cutters on play doh and then decorate with buttons and glitter and whatever you have laying around. Make reindeers and Christmas trees out of handprints. Or christmas lights using thumbprints. I always say this but it’s true – check out pinterest, they have some amazing arts and crafts ideas on there.

  • Bake ginger bread house, Christmas Tree or little gingerbread boys and girls.
Make your own advent calendar and inside place tags which suggest a fun activity for the day. Make some reindeer food. A Christmas snow globe. Basic fun Christmas printable’s for colouring in. Scrapbook an album with photos of your son (and family) to give as a gift to someone. Make Christmas cards, wrapping paper and gift tags. Make Christmas decorations.

  • reindeer food (glass jar with oats glitter exct)
    Gingerbread house decoration.
    Star cookie Christmas tree
    or google Match box presents
