We found some gifts when the children were little, foundation gifts that would last and be used all of the time. We went with toys such as playhouses that last and can be added too, we went with outdoor play equipment that gets used each year and goes through ages and stages.
My Grandson is 3 years old and just loves his Cars anything Cars so I have already bought him a Car Racetrack with some cars and his favourite all time Car is from Pixar Cars so I bought him Tshirts Shorts shoes a bag
A gift that we will be getting our toddler as a belated Christmas gift after we have moved is a mud kitchen. A spot in the yard he can just go ham and be messy. Last summer we bought him a plastic water play set that has a bunch of slopes and spinning wheels where water goes down (from big W) and he just loves it
Also as you mentioned you are new to this it’s worth me letting you know to be wary of how many presents you buy because once you start a tradition kids tend to expect it bigger and better then next year. This gets more and more expensive every year. I grew up receiving a sack full of presents, yes there were alot of school supplies, undies and socks to fill the bag but still it was a lot and some of my toys didn’t even get played with My husband however only received one gift and he was very grateful and happy with his one gift.
This is such a good age for buying fun and educational gifts for children. It is a great time for developing fine motor skills such as colouring and play with a variety of different craft and creative materials. It is also a great time for outdoor play with outdoor toys. We have always watched what the children enjoyed and followed that lead.
I always like to give things that create activity, Imagination or fun experiences. So things like play doh or art and craft, colouring sets, outdoor balls, books. You could also save money by gifting things that they need such as clothing. Enjoy Christmas with your child! It’s such a cute age
It depends of course on your sons interest, but personally I always think that play equipment for in the garden is a good one (for example a swing set, a climbing frame, a sand pit, a trampoline or a cubby house). These things are also rather dear and are a good investment for the years to come.
