I find leaving dishes overnight to drain gives the dishes a better shine when I put them away in morning.

  • do you mean in the dishwasher? yes I do, but that’s because I put the dishwasher on just before bed


  • Before I had a dish washer I almost always let them dry over night


  • dishwasher doesn’t gives 100 % satisfaction so i use hand and use drying racks to dry it.but i have not seen any special shine yet.may be difference in the detergent you use.


  • I always leave them to drain overnight, its a battle as it is to get anyone to help cleaning them, I prefer to let em drip dry overnight than the stress and the extra work.

  • We have a dish washer but there are some things I prefer to wash by hand, threw the drying rack out years ago. I found leaving stuff to dry on the rack ended up leaving streaks and water spots on things, especially glasses, maybe it was the dish washing liquid I used?

  • Totally agree. Who can be bothered wiping dishes anyway?! And I’ve heard that it’s more hygienic leaving dishes to air dry…??


  • I like to leave them out to dry simply because its both a time saver and better for the environment.
