Hello!

I am wondering if other mums take supplements or vitamins. As a mother of 3 I find myself so tired all the time. I’ve started eating breakfast recently as I skipped it for so long. Is this adding to me being so tired? I’d appreciate any advice at all.

  • I only take calcium tablets and even then half the time I forget!
I feel tired all the time as well especially because my kids want to go to bed at 3am everyday but I think my body has finally gotten used it almost a year on. I’ll be back to work next month after mat leave and don’t know how I’ll cope but I guess I’ll start taking multi vitamins then.

  • I think getting enough sleep is just as important as good nutrition in order to feel energised.

  • I totally understand how you are feeling! It can be so exhausting being a mum that is also a taxi driver, doctor, story teller, chef, referee and all the other things we have to do to keep on top of everything!

Being tired can effect everything. Even your relationship and moods!

I take a vitality pack which has helped me feel so much better! I’m refreshed when I wake up, have energy throughout the whole day and i have even lost weight and toned up!

I love these vitamins! It has made me such a better mum, wife and overall person!

    Having energy is awesome!!!

  • I have the natures way women’s daily vitamin !!

It’s a gummy lolly form and easy on the tummy!

  • Definitely start the day with breakfast but it would be interesting to know what you have. Cereal would probably leave you feeling lethargic after a while. If you can, cooked whole oats, or eggs is best.
With regards to vitamins, perhaps get your iron levels checked out. But group vitamins are good for energy levels too. Perhaps a visit to a naturopath is a good idea as they can make recommendations specific to you.

  • I do!!!

  • I don’t take vitamins… But if ur so tried it won’t hurt to give it a go

  • yes a slow release one I think it makes a difference.

  • If you’re eating a really big, heavy breakfast it will make you feel sluggish, but not tired. Agree with all that the previous poster said. I start my day with oats, they’re fantastic. During the warmer months I start my day with a healthy fruit smoothie. Make sure you’re getting a good nights sleep and a healthy diet with plenty of water.

  • Breakfast wont cause you to feel more tired it will help make you less tired if you make sure you have a really good breakfast. Oats are a great one not only filling but are low gi.. Including lots of fresh fruit n veg throughout the day will also help.. If you are still feeling tired it may be worth getting your bloods checked for vituim levels vit d and iron are usually the ones to cause low energy if they are low :)

  • i do take vit D3 and also find juicing in the morning very helpful

  • Vitamin d and iron tablets for me. Just depends on how you are feeling

  • I don’t take anything but have also been wondering if I should. Will be reading through all the responses.

  • Breakfast usually does the opposite! I’d say its other things making you tired. Low iron and/or iodine can do that to me.

  • I use Swisse Ultivite and have found I have heaps more energy since starting it about 4 months ago.

  • I take Swisse Enervite, probiotic, Olive leaf extract, cranberry tablets (as I suffer from recurrent UTI`s).

  • Currently I am taking fish oil, evening primrose oil, b6, breast feeding and pregnancy formula and vitamin D as well as my thyroid medication, drinking two litres of water and eating well. Not feeling so tired now as a result and really feel energised after a brisk walk.

  • I’m to lazy to take those supplements but it’s been a year i got bad hair loss caused of stress and lack of vitamin D. so i take vitamin D every morning

  • I admit I do take multi vitamins & supplements quite often, I always have but I feel it’s even more important to after we have our babies as they can rob of us our nutrients. I suggest taking a female multi vitamin & I found I lacked magnesium after I had mine. I also like evening primrose oil which helps with PMS but I love it as it softens my skin. Iron, calcium & vitamin D are ones not to be forgotten either. It also depends on your lifestyle & whether you are deficient in certain areas, perhaps a trip to the GP would benefit :)

  • I do – I take regular multivitamins as I know I don’t get enough from my daily intake.
