Hello!

Does anyone know if they still have the good old Fetes anymore I love them where you could buy home made cakes slices and sweets and the good old Elephant stall.

  • I was wondering the same thing when our local school suddenly had one after a few years of not. It was really good though they paid for a lot of rides for the kids which would have eaten up much of the profit. The kids paid for an wrist band for unlimited rides. It was great for the kids though and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Yep! They sure do!! Aren’t they the best! You just need to keep on the socials so you don’t miss them! I find Facebook is great to keep up with what’s on in my local area. There are so many things that I would have missed if not for that!

  • The fetes in our area are always on during the warmer months of the year. They are usually advertised with corflutes along the side of the road; and also in community noticeboards, both hardcopy and online. We also like various handcraft, homegrown and second hand markets for browsing and finding things and having fun.

  • I don’t know of any but i do see things like Sunday markets that are pretty much the same thing here where locals sell their own produce and goods. It’s always a nice find and walk around exploring all those things and trinkets, speaking with the sellers and hearing their stories

  • If you’re able to get to some rural town markets you’ll find these sorts of stalls. We have excellent markets a few times a month where you can buy home made baked goods, preserves, local honey. And then town festivals there’s even more available. When I lived in more built up areas I didn’t see this level of local goods.

  • There are always loads and loads of fetes in our area and we do love going to them; they are always so good for finding fun things in the trash and treasure stall and for finding plants for the garden. We like to go to both the small and large fetes.

  • Yes! I was at one earlier today. It was great – a bunch of stalls managed by the school, including pre-loved books, lucky dips, tombola, plenty of home made sweet treats, and so on. And then they also had stalls from small local businesses: hand made jewellery, totes, knitted stuffed toys, and so on. A lovely range of handcrafted things at reasonable prices with a kickback to the school. Great combination.
