At Christmas my kids give everyone a Christmas card with a small gift ie candy cane and pencil/ eraser or something, but they are still in the younger years ( 1 & 3) As they get older I think they will just give them more to their to their friends,

For Xmas I made laminated wee cards for the whole class and added a wee sticker sheet. But I wouldn’t think about buying gifts & cards for birthdays, unless my child is invited and going to a birthday party

I buy a value pack of Christmas pencils from K-mart and each kid gets a card and a pencil stuck on the front – but that seems to be only cool until about year 3/4 then they just want to do cards for their actual friends

I think it is a nice thought but could end up being quite expensive and you’d have to make sure no child was left out

No I think it is unnecessary to give gifts to all kids, maybe just a card. I may through in a freddo with it

I always get cards and either a candy cane or a cadbury magical elf chocolate and stick it to the envelope for all the kids in my sons class and we buy his teacher a gift of some description depending on gender age etc.

My son is only in reception this year and I had planned to do handwritten cards by him and put a chocolate santa in it….however my husband seen that I was making “reindeer noses” for a friend of mine and suggested I did those.

Yes we normally give a card & a candy cane, chocolate frog or elves. even a gold chocolate coin.

Candy cane’s seem to be growing in popularity but like June states allergies and medical conditions should always be considered.
A small Christmas card can be a nice gesture but then you have to consider the fact that a child in the class may not celebrate Christmas, my daughter is a school teacher and has had children over the years who do not celebrate certain festivities. Also I have friends who celebrate Hanukkah. There is quite a bit to consider.

Have you checked if any of the children in her class have allergies or a medical condition they shouldn’t be given sugary things ??? That is what you should do if you invite children to a party as a duty of care. Not all children don’t go to parties, they just know that they don’t have them at home or relatives’ places. Kid’s parties werent a big thing when I was young so others didn’t have to worry about allergies when it came to giving other peoples’ children food or treats.

My daughter is in Year 6 and so far she has always given a small card to all her classmates, with a candy cane or a small chocolate.
