Hello!

“I have a sleep question with a difference my 1 year old is finally sleeping through the night (most nights) but now i am finding I am having trouble sleeping, what are your go to steps you do before hitting the pillow that guarantees you’re asleep within minutes?” Do you have any tricks that help you sleep at night?

  • I am going to study some of these suggestions. At the moment, I am still awake hours after going to bed, then I’m having trouble waking in the morning at a respectable time. It’s so frustrating!

  • Get up,early every day. Stick to a routine. Keep busy throughout the day.and when I’m really desperate, I have a mug of warm milk and 2 Panadol about an hour before bed.doesnt always work, but when it does its bliss to have that extra sleep

  • I use Rescue Remedy sleep spray – it works like a dream and is all natural!

  • How did you end up going? Anything work?

  • eat early and avoid coffee before going to bed

  • I really wish I did have tips lol! :(

  • Hmm, insomnia is the pits. Especially when your child is sleeping and you feel you are wasting all that precious sleep time! I just stay up reading until my eyes are tired and then I find it easy enough to fall asleep. I do sometimes wake at 3am and lie and stew about things, so the trick for me is to just pull out the mobile and start reading Nancy Grace or Dr Drew transcripts…and before too long I get sleepy again.

  • Try playing a sleep meditation cd when you first go to bed

  • I always try and read a book and that tend to make me sleepy!

  • Turn all screens off half an hour before you want to go to sleep, to help you wind down.

  • i sleep with the tv on and try and listen to the voices rather than think all night otherwise i cant sleep. drives my husband crazy lol

  • I have tried lots of natural tablets & nothing has worked. What about acupuncture?

  • Have a glass of warm milk and read a book.

  • Should also add that it doesn’t stop me from waking up during the night, even if my kids sleep through. My body seems to have programmed itself to automatically wake up at least once, even if the kids are staying at grandmas’s the night I still wake up

  • I have my own little routine I use to ‘wind down’ after the kids go to sleep. It usually consists of a bit of tv/ computer time, a hot chocolate, then I have a nice warm shower right before I go to bed to get me all relaxed.. I also keep myself busy during the day so that I’m usually very worn out by the end of the day and very much ready for sleep!

  • If you are into complimentary medicine. Rescue remedy sleep is available from pharmacies and is also great

  • A warm shower and a cup of Rooibos and vanilla tea are my favourite sleep time remedies. I add milk to the tea which is also of course caffeine free

  • Can I suggest a warm milk, I prefer a hot chocolate and a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow. It has helped me in the past but now I have 10 month old twins who still wake 2 times a night so sleep is non exsitant. Maybe reading a chapter of a good book might even help. :)

  • I have a bit of alone time once hubby and kids are in bed, watching tv, checking emails and facebook and mouths of mums of course! Nice warm shower and sometimes a warm milo! Im always so ready for bed anyways! You are in a habit, it will take time! You probably are a bit anxious too? You will hear baby if they wake up! Maybe tell yourself over and over that baby will sleep through and you can now sleep.

  • I dont drink coffee or anything that contains caffeine after around 5pm and limit my sugar as well if I am wanting to go to sleep early. The trouble is our body clocks become accustomed to waking and we need to teach it that it doesnt need to anymore
