Hello!

Does anyone do this anymore? My mum still does and it’s so cute seeing all the cards she hangs on the wall from people. It’s such a shame this seems to be fading out

  • Probably I write more birthday cards than Christmas cards. My family lives in Europe and we have been trying to travel to Europe over the Christmas period over the last couple of years, making it less important to send them a Christmas card. But I won’t be their with all of their birthdays so I write more birth cards. Quite often I make and send a personalised card online via Hallmark, sometimes using pictures

  • I do send Xmas cards and everyone I send them to look forward to them because I get special 3D cards and my friends and family always wonder what their cards will be each year. They love them

  • We do love to send cards because along with my comments below about supporting charities with the purchase of cards; we also love the opportunity to connect with family and friends. We personalise each card and because a card is small if fills up quickly with meaningful content. I am not a fan of generic emails and messages; I like the personal touch.

  • My kids enjoy writing christmas cards for their school friends and handing them out. I love to receive them as i think when people take time out of their day to write one, it’s definitely so meaningful as it’s easier to just send a message online these days! It definitely is a special thing to do

  • I only used to do them for my nan and older generation of the family. However they are now in heaven. My parents and siblings and friends find the extra cost to a card not being worth it. We prefer to spend that money on the gift. However my children still love giving cards at school.

  • I’m sending fewer cards each year and last year I think I only received a couple of cards. I have sent a couple of cards overseas this year, but I’m not sure if I will do many more.

  • I have a few friends that still write cards but it is not something I have done for a few years. Cards can be beautiful but if you don’t have much to write in them, then I think they can be a waste of time. A simple hug or some words when giving the gift can be just as beautiful.

  • We always buy Christmas cards, wrap and name tags from charity. We love to support charities and this is such a nice way to do it. We still send cards because it makes us feel good. We have noticed that not many people send cards. We have always loved hanging them at Christmas time and it is rather sad to not see as many cards.

  • I still send cards to people I don’t see regularly but am in regular contact with – friends who are overseas or interstate, mostly. It’s a nice way to say I’m thinking of them at a time of year when things are crazy and I’m not likely to have a chance for a nice long phone call.

  • I don’t write Christmas cards. My mum and mother-in-law still do think. I wonder if they still sell Christmas postage stamps? I used to buy Christmas cards when my kids were in primary for them to give their school friends.

  • Not as many as once upon a time… and some years I’m more dedicated than others! I prefer to do then and post them, because it’s a nice surprise in the letterbox but not been that organised in recent times. So I end up doing them for family and friends and teachers who we see in person!

  • Yes, I do. It’s a way of keeping in touch with cousins and somehow it makes it feel more Christmassy. I am, however, not sending as many as I used to. The cost of stamps makes it more unreasonable to send to those, who don’t bother sending cards. I guess it is a tradition that is fading.

  • We always send a Christmas card to my husband’s grandma with a picture of our family. This year I found a colouring in Christmas card and gift tag book that my toddler has been colouring in as a Christmas craft. We’ll be posting out some extra cards this year and using those. (The card book is from Big W for $6 if anyone else is interested)
