I’m looking for a healthy home cooked Bolognese recipe for my family, preferably using all fresh ingredients. Does anyone have a recipe for a traditional bolognese sauce?

  • a slow cooker is best used for this or a large stove pot.
    I add 500g mince, 1 diced onion, clove garlic (or 2 if you like it) and season with salt and pepper. add in diced or grated vegetables of your choice. I like to add diced carrot and zucchini. I also add 3-4 diced up fresh tomatoes. 1 sachet of tomato puree. 1 cup of vegetable stock. 2 tbsp. of HP Sauce. Sprinkle in any herbs you wish – I use dried herbs called Italian Herbs. Mix it altogether. If you want to add more tomato flavour add another sachet of puree. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 9 (guide only). I find the longer you give it the more it breaks down and is just heaven. Keep stirring throughout the day.
