Hello!

I need help. I have a 2 year old that use to eat anything but over the last 4 weeks I have not been able to get her to eat anything unless it is treats/snack foods. I have tried cereal, toast, fruit, pancakes and I have even tried giving her a reduced sugar up and go but she will take a bite or sip and then refuse to drink it. I don’t give her anything else until a bit later so that she realises that she can’t just eat junk all the time. Does anyone have any advice?

  • yoghurt wit some fresh fruit. Letting her help with make it might help or letting her sprinkle some additions on to cereal sometimes works – like fruit, goji berries, seeds.

  • Boiled eggs – and soldiers!! Or, make vege burgers and wean her onto healthy foods. The real me says tough love. Put what she is going to eat in front of her, if she doesn’t eat it, take it away. My son loved mashed veges, or fruit smoothies. Food was never a big deal in our home, still isn’t

  • Has your toddler’s breakfasts changed at all since you posted this?

  • yeah around that age they get super fussy so just keep doing what you are doing.

  • Oddly enough, that was about the age ours took a liking to cooked rolled oats. We cook them with half milk/half water and then they are allowed a shrinking of sugar over the top. Mine won’t put any milk in the bowl. I can’t eat it that way – but its how mine enjoy it. Taste and attitudes change as they grow… good luck!

  • raisin toast is good – my son loves it and it has the sweetness of sugar because of the fruit in it.

  • French toast? Boiled eggs?

Or something left of centre like a vegemite and cheese sandwich?

  • I did a fruit platter and dried rice cakes when mine wouldn’t eat, that way, you can put what they don’t eat into a container.
Also adding sultanas to dry cereal and asking them if they want cornflake chips – they think it’s a snack

  • my theory is…if they are hungry enough they will eat … maybe she is testing to see what she can get away with…stick to your guns

  • My grandson did the same thing & the only way we got him interested in food again was making food faces with a variety of food.

  • My fussy 4 year old goes through stages. For a while we would only eat cheerios dry (the whole grain ones) and now he loves porridge but only the sachets – not if I make it myself. I just keep trying.

  • Have you tried making toast into shapes with a cookie cutter, even pancakes into shapes. What about an egg on toast
