For the younger children I would buy toys and for the older child I’d get something like a scooter or body board for the beach.

I find Christmas gets harder every year because kids get fussy ( want everything ) , and get very disappointed if you don’t give them what they want . Have you asked them in a casual way like .. what do you think you need this year ,eg stationary , dolls, clothes, books . It is much easier if you know your kids likes and dislikes so maybe write it down . Good luck , my kids are older and they tell us what they want .

My daughter is getting heaps of Avon products, a 3 in 1 slow, pressure and rice cooker and a massage voucher. My son is getting cash to buy what he wants

What about movie tickets or an experience as a family?

Science and experimental kits can be good for boys. Lego is always good for 6 year olds and possibly duple for the youngest. As for sports/outdoor toys, we have found the stomping rocket type toys a lot of fun across wide age range – and pretty cheap too.

After years of going through the July toy catalogues for xmas laybys..this year I gave up! I’d find half the time what I put away mid year, they wouldn’t be interested in by xmas. This year they are getting one present each from us, and $100 visa gift card to put towards whatever they would like to buy on boxing day.

Get the kids to write a list or draw a picture list of some of their favourite things. Get them to post it in a little cardboard Christmas box. Then you will have lots of ideas.

So far I’ve bought a book of Geronimo Stilton for my daughter and The Terry Pratchett 2016 Diary. She’s 13 years old.
