Hi my son has autism.
The funding that helps with speech, ot ect are great they really helped he is 7 now so it has stopped i def recommend get as much therapy as you can. It is scary but once you find out it gets easier. For me worsts parts are not understanding him, his tantrum and attitude.

don’t stress! it won’t change anything, it just means that the teachers etc will KNOW how to educate him!

Depending on the diagnosis the NDIS may be able to assist your son.

There is a lot of awareness and support and plenty of professionals to assist you and your child.

Expect lots of questions and assessments, but nothing too scary so don’t stress! It won’t change who he is, only mean that you get support if he needs it!

Well said KLSMITH91 ! Wait for your visit to the doctors. Get a diagnosis and report and ask for a Independent School Plan for his learning. Schools can offer these or you may have to seek one out.

Dont stress about it, if the results come back with a cause for your sons issues you can get help. Two of my son has issues and are on the NDIS funded program. I was worried about them been labeled but seeing how far the oldest has come i am no longer worried. The Belief is the younger your child if they have issues and gets help the better they will be in the future with coping with things in life. My sons see a occupational theropist, speech theropist and a pshycologist. and this has helped them heaps.

Even with a diagnosis he will always be a normal little boy. Don’t let a diagnosis define him

If you son does indeed have autism at least you will know and he will get the help he needs during school. The doctors will also give you advice in what you can do and possible support groups and such. All the best x
