Gur or Jaggery is a natural product of sugarcane. It is in more unrefined form than sugar. It is a brown raw mass of sucrose which gets it color because of other elements found in concentration such as wood ash and bagasse. Jaggery is commonly made from two products, that are sugar cane and date palm tree.
Compared to refined sugar, jaggery appears nutritious. Refined white sugar contains only “empty calories” — that is, calories without any vitamins or minerals. Gram by gram, jaggery is more nutritious than sugar.
Jaggery is traditional non-centrifugal cane sugar consumed in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia
I have no idea either. First thing that pops into my head is Mick Jagger. The mind runs away with itself trying to picture being that kind of Jaggery in the kitchen. Lol!
