Hello!

We’re having our daughters 1st Birthday in January, and we have friends with older children. I’m wanting to give little treats, as we aren’t having any party games. Does anyone know where I can get good cheap party favors? I’ve seen a few websites, but, they are really expensive.

  • I don’t think good and cheap go together in this context – but you can get inexpensive things in Kmart and most cheapie stores.

  • I think Kmart has great wee party gifts !

  • Big W, Target, K-Mart all have small party sections that might be okay.

  • I would suggest the discount stores or sometimes the supermarkets in the party section.

  • Bargain shops/ Reject Shops are everywhere and cater for parties for young and old .

  • Discount and $2 shops have party favours in packs of 8 -10. Cheap, cheerful. Also, online.

  • Depending on what you want Kmart have get cheap pens and pencils, discounts shops sell the bubble wands and lollies always go down well

  • Discount stores or ebay are pretty good.

  • I made simple stationary packs for my daughters 5th birthday. I got a huge pack of bits and pieces at kmart and my daughter put them together in bags she also designed (small brown gift bags and decorated)

  • As already suggested, Ebay or the discount stores are the best value you will get.

  • yep $2 type shops and reject shop are my pick. good luck.

  • I have found the reject shop to be wonderful for little bits and bobs

  • Thanks so much ladies. I love all the ideas. I’m not one for giving lollies to kids as I feel toys are so much more fun.

  • If you are going to give food as treats you need to check that none of the children have allergies or are not allowed some food, drinks and lollies for a particular reason. It could be hard to give all the children the same thing if there are age gaps because the kids may compare what they are given. Some of the discount stores have very good bargains. It also depends how many children will be at the party.

  • The two dollar stores and Costco are good places to buy cheap favours. If you are a keen baker, you could make fancy biscuits and sweets for a bag of goodies.

  • I find little bits and pieces in like the dollar stores/two dollar shop type places have just about everything.

Do you have a theme? so far for my children i have done
    -boy despicable me 2 party
    -boy smurfs party
    -girl Minnie mouse party
-girl Frozen Elsa/Disney Princesses combined party.

I found alot of my party stuff on ebay and aliexpress. I brought in bulk and it was alot cheaper.

Also depending on where you are have a look in the party places and target, Big W ,Kmart etc

    Best of luck

  • I use http://www.sunriseimports.com.au and buy in bulk for all my kids birthday goody bags and school treats, u have to pay postage but the prices are much cheaper compared to dollar stores

  • Why not have a water party
    Water guns
    Water bombs
Balloons filled with water/slime ect they can pop off the line
    Water fight
This will keep the children/adults amused most of the day.
As who doesn’t like the good old water fight day where you can get wet as or try to stay dry for not much cost.
As long as you are not on tank water the water is endless.
Even a bucket and containers will be fun to use

  • It depends if you’re having a theme etc?

But I always scan the dollar shops for cheap and bulk items that suit the party.

    You could also search Ebay

print out colouring in and activities
