Hello!

I was wondering if any mum’s out there know if you can freeze gingerbread biscuits and if they defrost ok? I want to make a heap for christmas gifts and was wondering if I could get started now so I don’t spend the whole week before Christmas in the kitchen! Does gingerbread freeze?

  • If you have a cry vacing machine, it is great to freeze biscuits in-just make sure you suck all the air out.

  • You’ve gotten great advice here – freeze the dough! To save even more time cut them into shapes before you freeze them and separate them with baking paper so when you’re ready you don’t have to cut them!

  • Agree with the other ladies, freeze the dough before cooking

  • yes you can, but if you freeze the dough before cooking it will last much longer

  • Believe it or not I made a batch today and was wondering the same thing as it made so many. Great news that it can go in the freezer.

  • I never thought to freeze it either

  • I’ve never thought to freeze it – how wonderful. It has such a strong flavour the children usually tire of it before all the gingerbread men/women have been eaten. I know what I’ll be doing with the bulk of each batch now!

  • Learn something new ever day I didn’t know u could freeze gingerbread

  • Gingerbread freeze very well, I just found out!

  • I lost the recipe I used last year Lovi but if I find a good one I’ll let you know

  • Yes you can freeze it. No problems at all.

  • You can freeze almost any biscuit for at least 3-4 weeks, make sure you cling wrap and put in container not letting any air in, when they defrost they will taste just as good. You can also freeze dough for your biscuits, that last about 4-6 weeks, again cling wrap well in a roll form, you then just cut how much you want, put in oven and voila fresh baked cookies in no time.

  • mine freezes well, I tried it.

  • I need a good recipe anyone have one???

  • What an awesome idea! I think I’ll do the same.
