Hello!

My little man is 16 months and eats well but I still give him formula….perhaps it’s peace of mind that he is getting all the nutrients he needs…..but does he really need it?

  • My son stopped drinking formula at around 12 mths he started to refuse it around 10mths but I kept with it I switched to a toddler milk but he didn’t like it so he now drink cows milk.

  • We started at 12 months

  • Cows milk from12 mths is fine

  • It’s been so long ago now that I cannot remember when I stopped using formula. I would seek the advice of a community health nurse.

  • Maybe consider switching him to cows milk now (provided he isn’t allergic). He could still eat all 3 meals and snacks as needed – you could just give him a cup of milk as well when needed.

  • I’m switching between milk and formula now. He eats well but if he seems off his food when teething or after his latest immunization then formula is increased.

  • if he is eating well, you could ditch the formula.

  • Following this as i have the same question

  • My daughter went straight from formula to cows milk at 12 months

  • I breast fed my daughters between 16-21 months so they had cows milk after that.

  • At 12 months old, my daughter switched from formula to cows milk. No problems at all.
Will be doing the same with my son.

  • My kids never had formula. They went straight from breast to cow. Good luck with your choices

  • Mine never had formula at all – if children have a broad range of healthy food then they should be getting what they need from that. You could always try cows milk and see how it goes.
