Hello!

Do you buy your child’s teacher a present? If so… what?

I’ve recently found some great little key chains on Temu, but keen for insights from others. Especially if you’re a teacher!

  • I do! But it’s because i love my children’s teachers as they have grown leaps and bounds with them. I try not to go for the typical and common gifts like chocolates, mugs etc as im sure they already receive plenty of them from the parents! Sometimes just a nice letter from your child is what makes their day

  • I love the thought of an Office works voucher, that’s really clever.
I know it can be considered boring and unimaginative, but I always like chocolate. Its so rare for someone not to like it, and it can always be put out on their table at Christmas time. I try not to go for tchotchkes or draw fillers

  • I have only ever bothered with a present once and that was for one particular teacher who my daughter adored. That same teacher also sent home a personalised Christmas decoration for our tree, so I bought her a cheap succulent plant in a little pot. You can find easy things like that on marketplace. Temu would also have some good gifts. I like your idea of keyrings.

  • When my kids were younger we purchased the teachers little gifts like a $5 coffee voucher with a thank you card. Or a Christmas candle type of thing or a box of chocolate etc
When they started having too many teachers to gift we found small ways to say thank you like a small jar of smarties with a ‘thanks for making me such a smartie’
Or a mini candle each from Kmart saying thanks for being my guiding light this year kind of thing… you can come up with anything and in the end it’s all about just showing your appreciation. I think that’s a lovely thing to teach your kids and shouldn’t have a price tag. Even a child made thank you note is a sweet idea

  • I am sure they get so many things they never use so I’d be giving that consideration. Chocolates may be thought of as boring by some but they can always share them over Xmas and most would use them. It’s the thought that counts. As suggested below and officeworks gift voucher would definitely be used. Even just a $10 one.

  • Definitely no coffee mugs especially that say ‘Best teacher’. Teachers spend a lot of their own money on student supplies etc. Therefore an Officeworks or stationary gift card is awesome and appreciated.
