Hello!

I have a question for the other mums out there. I have been having excessive period bleeding on implanon and I was wondering when others had this problem how long did it take for the bleeding to stop once implanon was removed? Thanks for you help!

  • I change to the Merina for the same problem… The Merina is Great!

  • I would get it checked out by a doctor.

  • The Implanon didn’t work for me, I bled for 8 weeks straight and in the end went back to the doctor and they took it out.
They said it works 3 ways either you get it in and you have no periods for the length of 3 years or you get your period as per normal or your one of the lucky ones… NOT and you bleed until it gets taken out.

  • I’d definitely go and talk to your doctor. I’d have it removed if I bled for too long

  • Foe peace of mind consult with your doctor

  • Danni did u really bleed for 18 months. That would be horrible. Not to mention tyreing

  • I would go and see your doctor to make sure all is ok.

  • I take it that you have spoken to your GP about this?
Excessive bleeding always needs to be checked and monitored…especially your Iron levels.

  • I got mine in in September and bled continuously till December and then never bled again. About to get it replaced this September. If you are really worried go back to your doctor.

  • I am on my 3rd one had a lot of spotting when this was put in but then it settled down and been fine since. This was my first 1 since having kids and I think it was just the diff in my body and hormones I love mine though! I would forget to take the pill!

  • its strange how it works so well for some and not for others!

  • I bled for the whole 18 months I was on it. I had it removed and my period went right back to normal.

  • I have my implanon for a year now and takes pills at same time to avoid bleeding. If i stop taking pills bleeds comes back again. I live in the Island and no time to see doctor as it is so expensive here that’s y I just cont with my pills while with implanon. So even if i forget to take pills in same time it doesnt matter as pills only help to regulate my bleeding. Hope this helps…

  • It’s horrible, I hated it….. I was diagnosed with depression but I knew it was the implanon. Got it out & returned back to normal instantly

  • I had the same issue after I had the Depoprovera injection, the only thing that stopped it for me was starting to take the pill again… I have not used it since!

  • I’m on my fourth with no bleeding. Love it. Depo made my psycho and the pill want strong enough to stop my bleeding due to endometriosis. They only last two years with me and got my most recent one two weeks ago. I do have a mild allergic reaction to the ingredients that make it show up in X rays but that settles after a week. Will continue having implanon as I love it.

  • i absolutely agree with all of these comments, the implanon sent me insane, and after 2 failed implanons I ended up getting the depo provera.

  • If it has persisted beyond 3 months its very unlikely to improve unfortunately, although there are some options to try and control it. See your gp or family planning clinic.

  • I agree with Amanda Moloney if you have any form of unwanted side affect its not the method you should be using ladies.. however I don’t know why any of you would want something foreign and synthetic delivering chemical substances into your body in the first place :/

  • I haven’t bled since I’ve had it in
