Favourite freezer friendly meals - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

I’m starting to stock up our deep freezer with lunch and dinner options once for once our next baby arrives. What are your favourites that reheat well after being frozen? I’ll definitely have stocks of Bolognese, beef and lentil soup, chicken soup, lasagne, but I would love some things that I wouldn’t consider or haven’t tried. Thank you

  • Look like you got a great list from the replies. I just want to add, make sure you have a good container to freeze as some plastic containers allow ice to form in the food and sometimes when opening the lid crack and pieces get in the food. I learnt it the hard way

  • Butter chicken, spaghetti bolognese, chicken and bacon pasta bake, curried sausages, devilled sausages, shepherds pie, beef stroganoff, taco mince, zucchini slice, quiches, chicken and veg pies or any other flavour pie that you like, sausage rolls. You could also get the larger freezer bags and make dump bags for the slow cooker add in your veg and meat and whichever sauce you want with it. Pop it in the slow cooker of a mornings

  • Butter Chicken freezes really well and I like to defrost in the fridge during the day and add broccoli and baby spinach to add extra veggies whilst in the microwave. Chicken and Mushroom Casserole with Pasta is also a good option just add broccoli and baby spinach or Coles Mediterranean frozen Veggies when Microwaving. Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Soup freezes well. Chicken and Corn Soup so easy to make and freezes well. Korma Beef or Lamb Freezes well just make boiled rice or grab packets of 2 minute rice sachet’s from Coles and Woolworths.

  • Curry which you could do a big batch in a slow cooker then just cook some rice to serve or freeze too., Cottage pie, sausage casserole. I used to make some ham and cheese or chicken and cheese sandwiches and freeze for lunch and i’d whack them in the sandwich press.

  • Good thinking ahead ! Like you I freeze indeed all pasta types, all types of soup, lasagna etc. I also freeze homemade pies, fried rice, gnocchi, Moroccan veggie dish with lentils (after defrosting and heating I put this in oven proof dishes with an egg in the middle and then it goes in the oven) and always plenty of cut up veggies.
