Hello!

I was just wondering if you could help me with food ideas for my daughters first birthday. She is having older children at her party too. I’m also interested in some craft and game ideas.

  • Keep the food simple and don’t overdo the amount you prepare, little kids have little appetites! Orange fruit cups -cut oranges in half, scoop out the flesh, cut into chunks and combed with apple, banana melon chunks and berries place salad back into skin cups and chill.
Cheesecubes wrapped in lettuce leaves, Cheerios(cocktail frankfurts) and the old classic fairy bread.
Favourite old party games are Pin the tail on the donkey, pass the parcel and musical chairs

  • What food did you use?

  • Stacks and stacks of finger food

  • scrolls vegemite and bacon and cheese, fruit kebabs, and kids still love the old party pies and sausage rolls.

  • Jelly fruit cups, fruit kababs, sandwiches cut out with cookie cutters, fruit sticks with yoghurt dip

  • Make a cake from fruits . . . a healthy alternative.

  • Some really goods ideas below.

  • Sliders and small sausages in hot dog buns cut in half are good too.

  • a big platter of all different sorts of cut up fruits.

  • some great suggestions posted 🙂

  • Some great answers below – might use some of these suggestions myself.

  • Fruit skewers, sausages wrapped in puff pastry, fairy bread, jelly in a cup, cupcakes, flavoured milk.

  • Loving the answers on here ! I wrote a list of some lol

  • I think you’ve got heaps of food ideas already, so here are some craft and a games idea!

Egg carton spiders – you’ll need egg cartons – each “cup” becomes the spider’s body, pipe cleaners for the legs, glue or sticky tape and googly eyes or textas to draw the eyes one. Pipe cleaners and eyes are readily available from supermarkets and $2 or discount shops (like Red Dot) and are not very expensive.

Glitter fairies: Print a few pages with a fairy clip art picture in black and white, get some glue and tubes of glitter (or better still, some tubes of glitter glue) and let the kids fill in the wings with glitter and colour in the bodies with textas.

Games: Holding a balloon between your legs and walking from one side of the room to the other without dropping the balloon – the first to get to the other side wins. Dropped balloons need to be picked up and carried again – from the same spot if they’re young or back from the beginning if they are older.

  • party pies/ sausage rolls, cut up veg with dips, cordial, water, doughnuts

  • what about having a big fruit platter with lots of watermelon.

  • mini burgers and fish fingers are some easy ones. you can have all the kids handmake puppets using old socks?

  • We had our sons at Mcdonalds no mess no fuss & everyone enjoys themselves .Otherwise have a balloon theme cheap & easy with pre bought foods.Otherwise go to the local park pick a fenced park & ladden the table with junk food they will have fun.Junk food once a year is OK but not at other times.Have a fun day

  • Fairy bread but if you want to make it a little healthy add some chia seeds also.. Little quiches are easy and mixed sandwiches always go down well sausage rolls a BBQ … Fruit salad chopped small not chunky…

  • Fairy bread , Jelly cups with frogs, fruit kebabs
