Hello!

My one year old princess breast feeds whenever she wants… I don’t want to feed anymore coz she bites at times. Every time I try not to feed her she cries a lot and I tend to feed her again. Is there anything that can be applied on the breast that she doesn’t like and is there a way to help her accept the bottle now as I never gave her the bottle earlier. Help help help….!!!!!

  • following, my problem at the moment, wanting milk to dry up ha ha

  • if she bites, tell her no and remove the breast. gradually supplement her breast feeds and develop a new routine for going to sleep etc where she might be used to going to sleep on the boob.

  • Slowly replace feeds with bottled formula just one for the day at first then increase the formula. You must also be careful as your milk drys up.

  • just tell her no, and give her a bottle or sippy cup

  • i guess being assertive is the only way 🙁

  • there are some good comments here

  • If you want to stop, be persistent with her. There will be tears from her and probably you but persistence is the key.

  • You really should try and persist until she is around 18 months, the biting will pass

  • maybe you can put her on bottle with breast milk maybe let her watch you put it in a bottle

  • My sons just turned two and I’ve only just managed to wean him. He’s old enough now to undersand things though so untold him mummy’s bonus were broken and it worked!!

  • I personally would onoy give one breastfeed a day. Say, lunchtime. No others at all. Soon she will realise bottle is faster and come to prefer it. Maybe cuddle her and feed the bottle. Might just be wanting the cuddles

  • I think “cold turkey” is the only way!

  • Unfortunately it is going to have to be a bit of tough love. Be strong and don’t give in. Even if you have to go away overnight to help this process. Good luck!

  • A friend just went through this… she had a few days of torment but had to do it “cold turkey”. Good luck! 😉
