Hello!

Out of 2 boxes and 6 tests I had 4 positive and 2 indent lines (which came up instantly). I went for an ultrasound and bloods and was told that I’m not pregnant.
I’ve been trying for a year and a half and in that time I’ve had a miscarriage. Getting false positives has really knocked me down, and I’ve decided not to use First Response again because I fear it happening again.

  • Aw bless, I can imagine the false positives knocked you down after your experience with miscarriage. I would certainly use a different test.

  • I did have issues with them. I had two tests that never worked at all and they were the digital expensive ones. I’ve found the cheaper ones were more reliable.

  • I only used a pregnancy test once and was about 4 months pregnant so got an obvious positive. I would have thought today’s tests would have been more accurate. I fully understand your feelings about a false positive tho

  • What a traumatic experience miscarrying is. And to have your hopes up with false positives would be so disheartening. I was the other way. I can’t remember the brand, but I had several tests, including one doctors test, tell me I wasn’t pregnant. Well… the movement in my belly told me otherwise. I didn’t find out I was pregnant until 20 weeks due to the tests saying I wasn’t pregnant.

Fingers crossed you can find a reliable one and hopefully a gorgeous bundle of joy comes your way

  • My First Response tests were always accurate.

  • YES! don’t use that brand go with a different one. Good luck on your journey xx

  • Oh sorry about your experience that can be disheartening. I’d try different brands at the same time to see what they show. A digital one is usually good too

  • Not sure if you can see it in the pic but there is a line there in person that showed up in the time frame and turned out to be an indent.

  • Most brands are pretty reliable, so I’d definitely avoid this one. I used blood tests (through my GP) so can’t recommend a brand.

  • I’ve never had an issue with first response. In my due date groups it always seems that clear blue isn’t the most reliable. I wonder if you just had a dodgy pack?

  • Yep! Just last cycle I had a super faint line within the time frame but my consecutive tests were all negative. It’s a shame, but from now on I’m not trusting any line from that brand unless it’s a dark one.

  • Yes and recent! So has my sister. The tests have been showing indent/false positives just a few minutes after taking it, definitely getting my hopes up. I think its a dodgy batch. I’d avoid the brand for now.

  • I personally haven’t had any issues with first response, but I have heard from other people who have had the same issue. I’ve never had a problem with clearblue, or the cheaper brands that I’ve used

  • Iam so sorry your going through this, can I ask when you suffered from your miscarriage? I found I was getting positive first responses cos I still had some HCG in my body because unfortunately my miscarriage wasn’t complete. Thinking of you and wishing you all the very best x

  • Maybe must be something wrong with that batch of the tests. Contact company to let them know.

Wishing you all the best and good luck.

  • Aw bless, I can imagine that getting false positives really knocks you down. When they give a false sense of hope I wouldn’t buy them, maybe even would prefer to go to the GP

  • I always had troubles with the tests with the blue lines…apparently the pink lines are more trustworthy. I’m sorry you had to go through that, what a rollercoaster. Good luck ????????
