Hello!

DNA seems the way of the future but can have devastating effects. I found out all my sisters were half-sisters.

  • No I haven’t, never felt the need for it

  • I haven’t but I feel like my results would be super boring so it’d just be a waste of money.

  • It can be useful for family history. I ‘m not 100% sure but I think you can even locate relatives you didn’t know you had who share a certain percentage of DNA (so long as they have shared to somewhere like ancestry.com too). And can certainly get a breakdown of what regions of the world are represented in your line from way back. But too expensive at the moment to consider.

  • No I haven’t and have no doubts about where I come from either.

  • I’m too worried about finding dead beats, losers, all round not nice people. Think I’ll stick with the fsmily I’m aware of, better the devil you know and all that

  • Nope data privacy reasons, not interested.

  • I would think really really carefully about why I was doing it first. If the reasons were good enough to risk the unpleasant discoveries, sure.

  • I am really interested to try it out but don’t think I would be disappointed with the result. I am sorry for your discovery – that would be a big shock!

  • I haven’t and don’t intend to.

  • There are alway spam emails offering cheap DNA but for me I know my roots as far back as 1500’s as I have done my family tree and so I feel don’t need to do this. But if you find out like you did something shocking (I presume you were not expecting this result) you have to be careful not to let it change your family relationships. Has it affected your family in anyway since knowing the results?

  • i don’t think so i need it

  • I haven’t done it but I find it interesting. Sorry you found out stuff you weren’t expecting.

  • Are you looking for something in particular? I wouldn’t even think to do a DNA test unless there was an issue that made it important. As for your half sisters, does it really matter outside of medical reasons that they are only half sisters? It shouldn’t change your feelings to them.

  • Thank you ladies.

  • I dont see purpose for me to do it

  • I think I’d rather not know for now

  • I’ve thought about it. My dad has no idea who his dad was and my partners family is full of criminals, so it’s a bit scarey to get right into it
