Hello!

When I was on holiday in China a couple of years ago, I fell in love with something called “Green Bean Ice-cream”. It had a very different flavour & texture, but it became my new best-friend, I loved it so much. Does anyone have a recipe so that I could make my own. I did try one recipe I found when I googled it, but it wasn’t anything like the real stuff.

  • It’s very protein rich and is quite easy to make.
This is a simple recipe without sugar which we like.

  • It sounds like a savoury ice cream, would love to try it!

  • See if you can go to an Asian food store and look in the freezer section where the icecream is already made . . I cant have green bean as it upsets my stomach but I can take red beans and the icecreams are really nice . The chinese word for green bean is ” LOOK DOA ” . Normally people make sweet dessert out of it and you can even pop into a chinese restaurant to ask , they may give you some advice about the icecream side if you want to make your own .

  • Oh yuck, sounds horrible! You could head into a Chinese restaurant and ask. They might be able to help you out, point you in the right direction

  • Give this a go.
1 cup milk (I substituted for 1 cup of half and half)
    1 cup heavy cream
    4 egg yolks
    1 cup white sugar
3 cups of strained cooked and cooled green bean

    DIRECTIONS

Combine milk and cream and bring to boil over medium heat.
Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar in a medium bowl
Ladle 1/4 cup of the hot cream into the egg yolk mixture and whisk until smooth
Pour mixture into cream and put over low heat until it thickens into a custard consistency
Cool mixture and add green beans and mix, and refrigerate over night
    Pour into ice cream maker

Hopefully it will taste the same. 🙂

  • Never heard of this ice cream; good luck finding it.

  • Never tried or heard of it. I hope others can help you out.

  • Not to sure but I hope other mums can help you. Good luck. Sounds a bit gross though.
