It always depends on how fancy you get. Just meat and veg is paleo, but homemade cocao hazelnut spread is hard and expensive.

Paleo works for me too

My sister has recently tried this paelo diet, but she found out she needed to break the rules at least once a week to keep it up, she found herself craving foods that just were not on the menu plan. My advise would be to try it for the health benifits of it but to treat the family to something not on the menu plan once a week. Might be a little easier to stick to that way.

No food containing grains or dairy.
Fruit and Veg with low sugar, salt content. There is one or two vegetables which naturally contain salt in them. That was a big shock to me. If you suffer from reflux to the extent that you suffer pain and/or vomit the diet can be a bit bland. They use a lot of herbs and spices. e,g, garlic, onions, pepper, chillis, curry etc.

there are a lot of dodgy paleo recipes out there, if you eat as natural a food product as you can, grow own veges, etc you are well on the way

Paleo in simple terms is cave man. Western society has introduced many nasties in to our foods and these are now causing concern to many health authorities. As a nation we are fatter and sicker, and food is part of the why. Paleo eating is fantastic and so good for your body. To start a new lifestyle (note the word lifestyle..anything that can’t be done long term isn’t worth doing) you need to really commit your self, spend the next week or so eating everything you have so you don’t waste things, no shopping just eat from fridge, freezer and cupboards. Then to succeed you need to plan, otherwise prepare to fail. Establish your budget and then search the net for recipes. Make a meal plan and write your shopping list. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks, Plan for everything so you get all your groceries in one go. There are heaps of budget friendly paleo recipes – Pete Evans has a few along with The Merry Maker Sisters, Luke & Scott and Sarah Wilson. You will be eating plenty of fruit and veg, protein and good fats. You won’t be buying from the pre packaged section of your supermarket shop the outside – where all the fresh stuff is. Go to the library and borrow some paleo cookbooks to help you out as well. eating this way is foreign to us as we are so used to fast and packaged foods to make life easier. But millions of years ago we lived like this just fine, we were healthier and happier. Food is the most abused drug in our society. Paleo is very affordable you just need to look for recipes. Best of luck you won’t regret doing something that is helping your insides become better in turn you feeling better 🙂

I’m looking into this as well. I’m thinking of starting off by doing the whole30 program to see if it suits us.

I tried Paleo with the Family. It was hard to get my 4 year old to eat so many vegetables and meat. The things kids love are pretty much are a no no on a Paleo meal list like Sugar, bread and pasta. I didn’t find the meals anymore expensive just more time consuming to make.

Hi! I find it depends a bit. It seems that people who are really gung-ho get everything organic, and of course, that can be expensive. But if you use regular groceries and just follow the recipes, it’s pretty good. You may use more eggs and nuts, which can be pricey. I’ve found the main cost comes if you bake (your own cakes, breads and biscuits) as you’ll need almond meal. I hope you enjoy it!

Honestly not e pensive at all! Coz ur going back to basics u could actually save money otherwise spent on processed foods sauces and packet mixes! I try to do 80/20 diet which gives me the flexibility to still indulge a little (milk in my coffee)

I have tried it and it was a bit more expensive. The food is great but I personally found it too restrictive long term.
