Has anyone used flushable wipes? Would you recommend them?

  • I use them for Master 2.5 who is toilet training. I find them much easier than using toilet paper on his bottom and they are better for flushing than baby wipes.

  • yes, but apparently they are not good for the loo! I use Gaia bamboo wipes – Chemist Warehouse has them. They are natural and a reasonable price. I take my makeup off with them too

  • yes have used them. nice to freshen up with though and can be so handy for the littlies. just saw a news story though and they showed this place after a flood and the tree was covered in flushable wipes because it doesn’t break down quick enough or even at all in most cases SO this has actually made me think twice for the sake of the environment.

  • I have used them when his poo was particularly sticky but some if hard when he has done it while asleep. I get off what I can with toilet paper, and only use them as a last resort. He often goes to sleep in the car while we are travelling and we don’t always smell it straight away or there is no safe spot to pull off the road.

  • i have used the Kleenex ones for both myself and my oldest. I loved the comfort and relief, especially after 2 vaginal deliveries (wish I knew about them with my first). and they helped him learn with toilet training, and if he hadnt wiped completely he would get some comfort as well

  • Just heard on the radio they don’t break down so they are clogging people’s pipes, resulting in plumbing bills.

  • I have used them when toilet training my daughter but not heaps. I have not used them personally. I don’t think they are really worth the money. Also, I am concerned that they will eventually block the toilet/pipes.

  • I know that in the US they are used a lot by adults, not just children. But there are many things that they use over there that they then bring out over here & us Aussies just dont take to them the same way.

I bought some when they were on special, but have only used them with the toilet training 2 yo & when we were road tripping.

  • Yes I’ve used them for my 4 year old who has been toilet trained for 2 years but learning how to wipe his bum properly. I’m not sure about babies though

  • It looks like they don’t totally dissolve, despite what they say. This way they are clogging the sewer pipes.

  • Oops! should read ‘the’ and not ‘their’!

  • Out of interest what is their impact on the environment?

  • I have used them for travel and for public toilets.

  • I buy them sometimes. I find them very handy. But they are not cheap and I don’t like the environmental part either. But they surely give a nice sense of cleanness. In particular during your cycle.

  • Just remember to take into account the environmental repercussions before you choose whether to use them or not.
