Hello!

The cat from next door is leaving half eaten rats and mice on my courtyard doormat. How do I stop him from treating my place like his own?

  • And another tip;
To make a special cat repellent, mix 1 teaspoon of black pepper, dry mustard, cinnamon, crushed garlic cloves and citrus oil. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and fill with water. Spray this on your lawn and garden beds. The pungent smell is said to keep cats away.

  • Most recommended: Water: Cats hate it, so keep a water pistol (Super Soaker) handy and spray any time you see them in your yard. A spray with the hose also works well. Scarecrow Motion Activitated Sprinklers: The “Scarecrow” senses animals the same way security lights detect people; movement and heat.

  • Quick Solutions: Scatter fresh orange and lemon peels or spray with citrus scented fragrances. Coffee grounds, vinegar, pipe tobacco, oil of lavender, lemongrass, citronella or eucalyptus also deter cats. Plant the herb rue to repel cats, or sprinkle dried rue over the garden.

  • Can you ask your neighbour to keep him inside?

  • Yep, found out what they don’t like and cover your yard with it. I have read peppermint oil deters them, but haven’t tried it myself

  • Find out what smells cat’s don’t like and spray your mat and nearby area. Hope this helps.

  • Speak to your local council they can help with cat traps, citronella is a great deterrent also talk to your neighbor about it if they are approachable and let them know whats happening. Don’t encourage the cat onto your property with food etc if you own your own cat make sure to feed it indoors not out.

  • Get a water pistol or a dog… problem solved

  • He’s feeling comfortable at you place .. Don’t pay him or feed him .. U could also spray vinegar where you think he get into your property .. This is a deterrent

  • I heard that mothballs around the fenceline can help (Dr Harry I think) but obviously away from children.

  • talk to your neighbour, and if that doesn’t work, call council and ask for a cat trap, they are free and the cat will be reunited with it’s owner, but hopefully they learn a lesson and keep the cat inside!

  • Plants that cats do not like may be best by the door.

  • hope you sorted this out. are you friendly with this cat? apparently they try to feed us by leaving these gifts lol

  • Call up the local RSPCA, they will help!!

  • your local pet shop might have some suggestions on products that could help

  • I’d heard cayenne pepper was good to discourage cats and birds

  • Vicks and Eucalyptus they hate these scents so spray that around and on the mat

  • Yuck i am glad it is not my house. I would speak to next door and try and find a solution.

  • They hate the smell of vinegar. Squirt se around your property and he’ll stay well away
