sorry got to be firm though hard to do
another idea you might try is buy her a baby doll she can feed
with a bottle and also a nappy change type also you may need
visual aids and do it too are fabulous ways to learn it is true.

for one of mine no matter what we did he would not wean in the end we sweetened his milk a tiny bit and that worked over time we decreased the amount of sweet

Tell her they don’t work anymore and take her to buy a new special drink cup for big girls. Let her pick it out, with a special toy maybe. BE FIRM. (easier said than done I know)

Have you tried giving her a bottle of cows milk while cuddling her instead of the breast?
it could be that she associates the breast with mummy cuddles .
She seems to be content with bottles when you are not there.

Try expressing for a while

I just weaned my one year old son and he LOVED being breast fed. It sounds awful but you may have to go through a few days of your little one being upset because she wants the breast. I just offered him the bottle of milk in place of every breast feed which was always just before a sleep. He didn’t like it at first and I had to sit through a few hours of tears but he would fall asleep. I made sure he was full though before I put him down for his bottle so he wasn’t hungry – I served dessert after his lunch – so if he didn’t drink his bottle his tummy was full. I guess my last piece of advice to consider if you are done with breast feeding? If you aren’t keep going. I found it easy to wean my son because I was fed up with breast feeding and wanted my body back – that was my driving force and he knew it! Good luck

I can’t believe people actually recommend curry or lemon juice. :s

I find my toddler does this too and I imagine it is because of the breaks away from you at child care (my girl has 2 days at child care too). A huge aspect is comfort too. Distraction works well, we do a morning activity and have a morning snack too.

Maybe she craves the comfort. Try cuddles & snuggles while giving her a milk bottle. She must love & miss her mummy while separated during the day and wants some of the comfort back when your at home.

Mums that keep telling other mums to just “push through it” and “enjoy it” have never had watery breast milk or the unfortunate circumstance of being in so much pain that every feed is you sobbing on the couch and trying not to resent your child for it. And sometimes, you are just ready to move on. 14 months is a VERY long time. I only got to breast feed for 8 weeks.
They also have a limited understanding of parenthood if they think their way is the only way.

Being that young it was a lot easier to make the switch, but I found that it was even smoother by starting out giving her all her bottles in the breast feeding position and stroking her head, then every few days I’d change one feed to a more comfortable position (or for you, you could put bubs down to drink the bottle)

And depending on bubs’ diet, (my daughter is now 14 months) I will also sometimes add half a teaspoon of milo to her milk as a treat, which may help convince your bub to love the bottle/cup a little more 😉

It took me just under a week to wean my son. I swapped one breast feed per day, starting with the morning feed, for a sippy cup of cows milk, until all feeds were cows milk. He refused at first, but once he realised breast milk was no longer being offered, he did accept the cows milk. I have to admit my experience was relatively pain free, but that’s how I did it. Does your child take cows milk in their food? I think that’s what helped my son, the familiar taste.
I’ve also heard people offer milk that is similar in taste to breast milk, such as almond milk.

My son was 2 1/2, wouldn’t take bottle ever, just wanted me. When we moved house he stayed with sister in law for 5 days, when he came home I had to be strong & say no you don’t need it but I will happily give you a cuddle. Good luck.

Please don’t give juice or fav milk instead she will have the worse tooth decay water & cows milk should only be offered

My son is 14 months and this is our first week without a feed. It is draining when you want to finish up Breastfeeding and your child is persistent. I found being diligent and (as others have stated) using distraction. I give him his water bottle and then possibly something to eat. I found the hardest part was saying no and sticking to it.
