Hello!

Hi all,
I’m trying to get back in shape and so am eating regular small meals of high protein and low carb / sugars.
I need some ideas for snacks. At the moment I eat nuts, or berries as most other fruit are very high in sugar, sometimes plain popcorn. What other snacks are good?
I’d like to include yoghurt, but I’m a bit sensitive to lactose.

  • Trail mix, jerky, hard boiled eggs, yoghurt, homemade granola, overnight oats, chia seed pudding, avocado and eggs in the oven sprinkled with dukkah, roast chickpeas, roast broad beans, edamame, homemade muesli bars, nut seed balls, cellery with peanut butter, apple/banana with peanut butter, cheese sticks, etc.


  • Boiled eggs, tinned tuna, make your own meatballs by mixing mince and a pkt of taco seasoning, deli meat


  • Egg muffins- with ham and capsicum are quick go to snacks
    Celery with peanut butter
    And if you have time on your hands make a big batch of bone broth, and drink a cup


  • Also; I place these kinds of snacks in snap lock bags; ready to go.


  • Also; there appear to be some good recipes for protein snacks on this site.


  • I make my own bars using Almond flour
    look for low carb recipes and recipes using Almond flour or coconut flour ( bit higher carb)


  • For protein snacks I make my own protein balls with oats, dates, coconut and protein powder. Great when you need something sweet. Eggs are good, also small tuna of tuna, sliced ham, cottage cheese, prawns and protein shakes. Hope that gives you some ideas.


  • I would suggest getting a cook book; which will give you lots of interesting ideas!


  • There are some yoghurts which are low fat low sugar that can be eaten in low amounts. Some fruit and vegetables contain more sugar than others. I suggest you have a look on google which has some genuine information. Titles such as sugar in fruit, sugar in vegetables, fat in fruit, vegetables and meat. Some high protein, low carb. diets exclude all grains and dairy. I found I got very constipated on that diet. It also took me a few weeks to find a good balance and constant energy levels. Another essential is plenty of sleep.


  • Eggs are great high protein snacks and keep you full for ages. I’m also lactose intolerant but can have yoghurt. I have noticed no lactose yoghurts and that might be suitable for you.


  • home made beef jerky, it does sound gross at the first thought i admit but making it at home its actually quite nice. just google home made beef jerky
