Hello!

What should I buy. I want some new pillows like the pillows you sleep on in a hotel when you get a pillow upgrade.

  • We always do a lot of research before buying bedding because it is so important to get a good night of sleep. We do a lot of research; both online and in store. We also like to feel all bedding and that does include pillows. A pillow is such a personal thing and it is important to get the right pillow!

  • I am not a fan of pillows in hotels, motels and resorts. I have never ever found them comfortable. We like to always go to stores and trial all products. We now know the type of pillows we like and can order them online. It is always a good idea to try any purchase, including pillows.

  • I don’t really agree with the hotel pillows but that’s my personal opinion. I find them a bit hard and too high most of the time, I wake up with a sore neck. My husband came across Spinal EZE after hearing it advertised on the radio. He bought himself one and then I bought one. It’s amazing! I haven’t looked back. Love my pillow!

  • Ohh arent hotel pillows the best! Sometimes i;ll find my pillows are great at the beginning but over time lose that fluff and height that was promising. Definitely go to stores like Adair, pillow talk and all those that specialise in Manchester. Good luck with your pillow hunting journey to the best sleep!

  • I agree with another mum member. Pillow talk is good and so is Adairs. I personally don’t like the pillows in hotels. I think they are lumpy and hard and personally prefer a more softer style pillow. If both these places don’t sell what you want, i would try Amazon as a third resort.

  • I find that Pillow Talk have the best range of pillows (go figure haha).
I recently upgraded mine and bought duck feather pillows. They had soft, medium and firm. Really great range and great quality. I would start there and see if there’s anything that takes your fancy. You might find some great sales this time of year

  • So I used to work for Captain Snooze. Technically a good pillow provides positive pressure, it pushes back. Like latex. It doesn’t collapse through the night like say feathers.

Consider how you typically sleep, side, back, stomach. This influenced the height of your pillow.

You also need to consider allergies and hygiene factors like washability or pillow protectors.

And yes the hotel upgrade pillows can feel quite special, but perhaps use it on top of another more supportive option. It may just be a quality set of Egyptian cotton sheets will give you the luxe feel.

  • You do not really need to spend a lot. I went through a raft of different pillows searching for just the right one. Memory foam is too firm for me. But, I did find that a pillow from Target was just right. You are best to just go into a store and feel the pillows. Different people prefer different things like soft or firm.

  • Yesss! I went through this whole thing aswell. I looked at the brand of bedding and pillows when I stayed somewhere once before and it was called hallmark. The company sells to hotels and motels but you can definitely reach out and ask what to look out for when purchasing pillows to get equal quality

  • This is a great post and I will be following. I am in the market for new pillows and it is just SO hard to pick. Too Thick, to thin, too hard, too soft. The worst thing is when they are good for a week or two and then compact.

  • I Googled “What brand of pillow do high end hotels use?” and a lot of brands came up. I guess it will depend on your budget and whether you like down pillows, foam, or microfibre. There are lots to choose from as well as whether you prefer soft, medium, or firm.
