Hello!

I have noticed my hair is thinning alot lately especially at the front at my fringe. I am way too scared to try anything incase it makes it worse. Has anyone had the same problem and made it better. If so what did you use? This is making my confidence level really low and sometimes embarrassed to go out

  • I have the exact same problem my hair is so thin at the top of my head and do get people commenting like oh your going bald and then they have a good old laugh. YES it’s not fun

  • First of all, don’t get embarrassed, your hair or body doesn’t define you !
It’s not uncommon for woman to go through episodes of thinning of the hair due to the hormone changes at various stages in life.
I would ask the expert advice of an good hair dresser or naturopath.

  • There are hair treatment places around, look at Shane Warne. I think I’ve seen a shampoo that’s supposed to help too. You could increase the blood flow to your scalp, massage and heat packs, that might help

  • Do you where you hair tied back? Perhaps its too tight. Have you been stressed or had surgery? Not sure of your age etc but maybe get GP to check hormone levels or thyroid function.

  • Are you pregnant or is it after baby… At both times during and after each pregnancy my hair fell out heaps and has only now years later became thick again..

  • Hi! It’s totally normal! It happened to me both times when I slowed down breast feeding and stopped ! Mines just starting to grow back now! I’m a hairdresser to, I thought great I’m gonna be a bald hairdresser lol! It’s just your hormones silica is great to take or there’s a hair skin an nails vitamin too! Don’t stress too much I know it’s hard but it will come back ! With silica it can take up to 3 months to work and by then you should notice new hair coming through anyway! Just be kind to your hair don’t go crazy with heat (blow dryer, straightening) and a treatment once a week helps I also find not washing ur hair so often and letting the natural oils repair it helps! Just lots of good food too!

  • Also, there are hair products that give volume to hair and make it appear bulkier.

  • Sorry to hear that it is stopping you from going out. Maybe go to a GP for the best advice on how to manage this issue.

  • My kids use Silica tablets. Expensive, but after months, improvement is showing. Goodluck

  • You can buy hair growth treatments at the pharmacy but apparently you constantly have to use them to get the results.Best of Luck!

  • I’m in your boat and just like you I hate it and am very self conscious. It’s been made far worse since i am at the end of breast feeding! I am going to see a tricholigist when I have finished feeding.

As others have said, stress, certain nutrient deficiency etc… Best to see GP or trichologist. Goodluck

  • See your GP to get things checked out. To make what hair you do have obtain a bit more body I’ve heard you can use epsom salts and shampoo mixture to add volume, but never tried it personally.

  • oh you poor thing – maybe see a dermatologist, perhaps a product you are using is stressing your scalp?

  • It is worth speaking to your doctor to help find out the cause of the hair loss. It could be stress or a dietary deficiency and the solution may be able to be rectified.

  • Not had this problem. Advanced hair perhaps? There are also gels and creams. Perhaps talk to your GP.

  • I have the same issue. My hair is naturally quite fine so this is most of my problem however it is especially fine at the fringe. I was using Evolis which is a shampoo and a tonic spray for a few months and I saw an improvement with that. Maybe give that a go? Hopefully others will give some other good ideas :)
