I also had this problem when l moved into a new apartment and the cause is built up food etc in the drain.You need to get someone to open it from underneath the sink and clear it out! Stink gone!

I would open up the drain to remove any upbuild of gunk. Keep it clean by weekly pouring some bicarb & vinegar through the drain

I would pour a cup of laundry washing powder down the drain and leave it for about half an hour before turning the hot water on.

Use drain cleaner like draino may be blockage in pipe needs cleaning out.Then flush through
