We just brought a Weber Family Q Premium and it did not come with a solid plate at all, just the grill. You need to purchase the solid hot plate separately. I guess they do that because they know most people want half and half and by doing it this way they are getting you to pay more money to get what you want.

Yes that’s what I was thinking too. You can also have a look in the instruction leaflet it came with when you bought it.
